As far as I know, I'm the only person in the world with my name. smile
Likewise - certainly in UK anyway.
Seems unlikely really. Intriguing though.

Well, in my case there's only a few tens of people with my surname in UK, and my first name is not very common either so the combination of the two militates against there being another one. The surname is a spelling variant of a much more popular name - 'o' instead of 'a', 'e, or 'u'. My ancestors were almost certainly illiterate like most other people's so it is likely to be a result of a misheard spoken word.

Interesting, not many of my surnames around either, surname spelt Goff as apposed to Gough, seems quite a few of Gough in the phone book, but not many spelt Goff.

Seems a lot in France with Le in front of it.

Well I will never meet my namesake, and it's probably irrelevant to this thread. However I just Googled my full name and am pleased to find that it's shared by a Royal Australian Air Force Pilot Officer who died over Germany on 22nd of March 1944 aged 20. His body is in Durnbach war cemetery. It could be a subject for another thread.

They were mainly in the trenches during WW1 though.

The name in France changed later to Gitt, still with the Le in front though.

My mate's cousin has the same name as me, which causes minor confusion if I happen to be around when he's telling someone else a story about his cousin.

I had another namesake (though with slightly different spelling) who was mentioned on the news quite a lot in the seventies, but this isn't a 'have you got the same name as a famous person?' thread so I'll leave it there. Oh, and two people from fairly popular bands have (or had, in one case) the same name as me.

I used to think my name was unique, but in the past couple of years I've found 3 others, all within 20 miles of me.

[edit] Prompted by this, I had a look on FB, there are two more of me, one in the US, and a horse.

As far as I can tell I have one of the most common names in the UK, there seem to be thousands of us globally.

Yet I've never met one.

There was one on my course at uni in the year below me, used to cause all sorts of grief with the internal mail.

When I worked for a large multinational there was a Christine (I'm Chris) with the same surname as me working for the company in the US, she was known as Chris and company e-mail was forename.surname@ so I was everlastingly getting her e-mails so ended up having quite a few chats via e-mail.

A company I used to work at had a Martin Paul and a Paul Martin which I think probably caused more confusion than if they'd had the same name.

Worked with a namesame a few years ago. He was senior to me in the company. We got each others share allocation on one occasion. As i had both opened mine I got to find out waht his salary and share allocation were. he was not a happy bunny and HR got a rollocking.

We got on really well and I still see him from time to time.

Spoke to another of my namesakes on the 'phone a few years ago too.

Just googled my own name and found that on LinkedIn there are 2 people with the same name, one in Birmingham, Alabama, the other in Jasper, Alabama!
There's also someone sharing my name in Southampton (SO14 postcode) and I suspect we could be related, probably 4th or 5th cousins, as my Dad'a family originate from So'ton.

Ten people in my company on a global scale that have same name as me. However, we also have a guy who's genuine name is Arcangel Gabriel. I love that name!

When I lived with my parents many years ago now, both my sister and I shared the same christian and surnames as a brother and sister who lived about half a mile away from us in the same town. We never did meet them as they went to completely different schools to us.

My high school was idiotic.

Someone with exactly the same name as me who came from another school was put in my class. And he was a trouble-causing idiot...so I got so many letters and stuff home about stuff 'I'd' done. Took the piss.

I didnt think my surname was that common, so I was somwhat surprised many years ago when I saw my name in the TV guide under "The Flying Gardener"

At the time I also had a current Helicopter PPL - Cue lots of questions from friends asking if I had changed career...

I've just googled mine and found a few, but not many. Two in the UK, quite a few more in the US.
