Here's an interesting one for you techies.

For about a week now every day when I start up my PC, internet explorer won't work. It just comes up with an error message.

I have learnt thought that if I use system restore and restore it to the windows update of early that morning that it then works fine.

Any ideas why?

What version of Windows are you running?

What version of Internet Explorer do you have?

And what is the error message?

Remove IE from Add Remove Programs.

Run CCLEANER to remove all the temp files etc.

Reboot the machine.

Run Windows Update and reinstall IE through the updates.

Or

Start IE without addons
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

Remove the addons causing the problem.

Update your Anti Virus and run a full scan.

Thanks.

I'll post up what the message says tomorrow and try the suggested spells.

The message says "this page can't be displayed".

I haven't done anything about it yet as I have been busy today.

I turned off the PC when I went out this afternoon and when I turned it back on this evening I had to do it again.

Updated my pc today and had the same problem, machine had Internet access and I could ping external sites, restarting Internet Explorer didn't fix it but rebooting the machine did.

The real question should be why in hell are you using IE at all.
