Have at last got a date. Car leaves the factory on the 13th November. Emma at my OPC reckons that we should be on the road by the 30th.

Please could I have as much help and advice on what I should check and ask to be checked prior to delivery? I have never owned a Porsche before being very much an Aston Man. Believe me I am very excited!!

First up Apolo mentioned that steering Geo needs to be spot on.

Any help and advice will be very much appreciated. My OPC is a newly opened dealership I must assume that they are totally conversant with all things GT3 though they have never supplied one.

Can't think of anything other than the geo advice. Just tell them to hurry up as soon as it arrives at the dealership.

Not sure if the front wheel arch rad guards are now fitted at the factory?

Be aware the difference between the maximum and minimum reading on the oil gauge is only half a litre. To keep the oil level in the recommended area between one bar above minimum and and one bar below maximum the difference is only 1/4 of a litre. When you do top up oil it takes a fair time/mileage for the oil readings to work properly.

My car had a pipe work loose on the exhaust system which should have been held in place by vacuum pressure. The dealership put some clips on to hold the part in place properly. Can't believe mine will be the only one it will have happened to.

Tewkesbury I'm guessing. If it was me I'd have gone for factory collection instead, but it's probably too late for that. Here's a few suggestions for your new car once it's arrived:

1) make sure you check the order sheet options against the actual car before it's registered & taxed etc - some people have found items missing that can't be retro-fitted and if the car's been driven it makes things awkward - it's rare but important to check.

2) consider getting a new car detail done by a professional detailer who will visit the OPC to do so, well worth the c.£300 but it's important you tell the OPC so that they don't have their normal valeters do their thing on it.

3) consider getting paintshield or ventureshield film applied to the front to protect from stonechips.

4) confirm that the car will be filled with fuel (they're often not) and ask that they use Super, ideally Shell or Tesco (the only 99 grades available)

Then, get out and enjoy it! driving Oh, and get booked in for your inclusive visit to the PEC at Silverstone so you can learn a bit more about driving a rear engined car and enjoy it all the more. smile

Personally I wouldn t let anyone, least an OPC, start playing around with the geo on any 911 never mind a GT3. You need to see how the car drives first and as yours will be a factory direct car, as mine is, chances are it will be correctly set up to within accepatable tolerances...........driving

Don t forget to request a letter from your OPC stating the car came factory direct, to distinguish it from OPC engine swap cars.

You will also need to decide whether to chase the 4th year goodwill warranty or reduce the invoice price by deleting the 'inclusive' but costed 3rd year warranty......

My car completed build today so will hopefully taking delivery early November.

My check list is as some mentioned above:

Options fitted to car as ordered
The 4th year warranty "grey area" needs confirming
Clarification on run in

Other than that my dealer is pretty good so will not be worrying too much. Ive requested that the front number plate backer not to be fitted and once ive had the car for a couple of weeks it will then be going to get its first wash and detail at Ultimate Finish

Is there a suggestion cars built post engine issues also get the 4th year warranty ?

Thanks Guys, all points duly noted.

This car is a really big deal for me . I really need to know everything I can about it. I have a lovely wife called Amanda (Molly) who is very sceptical about my decision to go for a GT3. I really do not wish to make any mistakes through lack of knowledge.

Please keep the info coming. smile

Check the tyre pressures are correct with a gauge at some point after delivery, good to know if the sensors are correct.

Take it easy with the brand new tyres for at least 100 miles or so.

Buy one of these and keep in the car at all times : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-380421-Tyre-Rep...

Not sure if settings like auto door locking etc etc can be done yourself, or you need the tech to do it on the 991 ??

Get the salesman to pair up your phone, set up Radio etc while doing the paperwork.

I'm not, sorry, but I have relatives there, one of whom had his 360 Spider detailed as it happened. However, I don't know if he'd be a judge of whether the guy he used was particularly good or not, so I'd suggest trying the detailing or South West forums, or maybe starting another thread on here if a search doesn't reveal anything.

Yes, had a letter back in April or so. It's a good will gesture due to the delay and faith in the product

Panicking about what to do next is not really the first emotion I'd be feeling with one of these about to materialise... Absolutely knackered with sleepless nights is probably more like it!

On the Geo side - Do you really think Porsche would release a car that necessitated you to 'immediately' go to your local specialist and have them tinker. I think not... That's something that should be visited in time and only if you think it's appropriate.

Personally I think part of the journey is the whole self discovery thing. Turn up, relish in the pomp and ceremony of the hand over, turn the key and begin the next chapter - ownership. Make your own assumptions, as unfortunately there is both good and bad advice on here...

hmmmm....all good advice.....but honestly most misses the point

would suggest you set aside a day...or two.....

map out a choice driving road....

step up your perceptions...think..focus.....

then immerse.....and begin to permagrin.

best of bloody luck

Just go with the flow. I slept very well the night before.

All I did was check the bodywork, wheels, front splitter and interior. Also check you have all your options you selected.

Nope, D. Just 375 on the clock. Gone up to 6000RPM in sport pdk once, all other times 5000RPM max. Awesome car and a great DD.

Got your pick up date yet.?. And did you opt the buckets ?, can't remember.

Too right on the sleepless night thing. Too be honest I didn't believe that this car would materialise. Now having a" leaving factory date" I now know that it is. Last night I did not feel the need to down Night Nurse or take a Nightol pill!! I actually slept. Now I am experiencing the burn of anticipation.

Thanks again for all the advice and help. Regarding "running in" Is it a case of waiting till the oil is up to temperature then to drive it fairly hard? This was something that I did with motorcycle engines which resulted in a better performance . Something about not glazing the bores I believe.

I picked up my new Cayenne (sorry I know I'm not in your league) about 18 months ago and was told to check the bodywork for minor dents etc. I tried and missed one. Have a good look over the car in natural light, once spotted those minor dents look like bomb crater every time you see the car and the OPC will not take responsibility once you have departed from their premises for the first time.

I'm thinking that prior to collection that I will have the car detailed and some plastic film added so your very valid point should hopefully not be a concern. As for the league thing I'm looking into selling some body parts to help fund this blooming car.
