Streaming from Samsung phone to Samsung smart telly
Discussion
Hi folks, I've tried to research on the internet to no avail and I'm a techno orang utan.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and a Samsung Smart TV.
My aim is to play a film or video footage from my phone to show on the TV and nothing I do seems to make them able to talk to each other I'm sure it's something I'm doing (or not doing)
Any help massively appreciated

As long as your TV is connected to the same network you should just be able to use the Samsung AllShare app that comes with your phone (hmm... I suddenly have a feeling they renamed it?) without doing anything on the telly.
You launch the app, select the video you want to play then tell it you want to play on your TV (my Samsung telly is called something like TV1859E53). Then, a message should pop up on the TV screen asking if you are going to allow it. Click yes/OK and it should play.
Another option is to install something like BubbleUpnP app on your phone, which allows you to select the photo/video on your phone and send it to your TV. I find this a bit more reliable.
Mind you, I've never been able to stream directly from the phone over wifi without buffering every few seconds, despite having a decent router.

If you are both connected to the same network and have the appropriate sharing set up the phone should appear on the "inpout" list on the TV. (along with HDMI etc)
This work flawlessly with my blackberry and windows pc. It's hit and miss with android phones, but does work after a bit of messing (switching WiFi off and on)
You can then browse the files on the phone using the TV remote and play from there.
