Just a few questions on suspension which has now done 50,000 miles.

(1) Over the winter I will have to replace the front suspension top mounts and bearings. But can this be done without having to set the camber and caster angles up again?

(2) I was thinking of replacing the front and rear shock's at some point, but keeping the standard springs. Has anybody done this, or should I just change the springs at the same time.
The car is only used as a road car, and it is not used for track days ect.
So coil overs would be a waste, not to mention too stiff, especially for the truly woeful roads around here.

You see..I'm a bit of a Smoooooth rider!

Regards John

I had OE springs and Pedders dampers, and it was a good combination...but ultimately lowered it on King springs.

The standerd pedders low set up is good for normal road driving not harsh in any way.

It's a good combo as long as you are happy with a wheel arch gap smile

Sorry, it was a nod in James' direction, as he seems to fall off the tarmac, now and again. wink

On our VXR8, we changed shocks but not springs. I'm not a personal fan of coilovers on road cars, so agree with your idea of just changing the shocks. Have a word with Monkfish though. If they don't think they can give you better spring rates on aftermarket springs, they won't sell them to you. smile

The pedders low spring and shock suspention kit is a nice combo for the road. Its not hard over bumps but still retains firmness and good feel.Standerd cv8 suspention is totaly crap just my opinion being a v8 owner. And dont let araf drive your car because he is good at breaking them.smile

Evening all, I'm off to Aus soon and wanted to pick up a few bits for the 'ro while I'm over there... can someone tell me the difference between Pedders 8985 & 9985 shocks?

My car is lowered, but I'm not sure how much (enough that the front arches have been rolled) so not sure if I should go for the 'short travel' 9985 kit or just the 8985?

8985 are what we normally sell. 9895 are a significantly firmer shock. A little too firm for regular use in my opinion.

As an alternative to Pedders, has anyone used these Monroe shocks: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120993904703?_trksid=p20...
