My missus Ford Fiesta 2009 alarm keeps going off in windy and cold conditions, the vehicle computer keeps telling me the bonnet is open which it isn’t! I have bought a new bonnet catch which I struggled to fit so the old ones back on but I was going to buy a release cable as well as the leaver doesn’t retract properly although the bonnet opens fine, has anyone had this problem with the alarm and bonnet? What did you do to fix it and is a release cable easy to change?

Any help would be welcome

I have heard the bonnet sensor is a regular to cause the alarm issues. As you describe it for me that sounds where the problem is.

Definitely the bonnet switch. Had this with a Mondeo where the alarm would go off in the middle of the night or when it was windy.

Ended up going into Ford to have them confirm it on their diagnostics, wish I had just replaced the switch myself, would've saved the cost of them having the whole security system checked out.

I have heard that bonnet sensors in general cause issues on a lot of alarms. Might be worth just disconnecting it????
