Hey!

So we are getting married next year and I want to take me, the best man and three ushers to get matching tailored suits in a lovely light blue or decent tweed.

Considering I will be footing the bill for these and will only see one days use out of them (everyone will get to keep them and I’m sure will use them again, but you get my point) I’m keen to keep the cost down, but the whole point of having tailored suits is that they look good and fit well.

Location wise, I’m completely flexible, I’m happy to book into a hotel and make a weekend of it if its on the isle of Harris for example.

Not interested in online ordering, want the day out and fitting.

This is the style we are after:

Drew of Forbes & Harper Glasgow will do full bespoke savil row for £1300ish depending on options, need at least a couple visits for fittings though.

Im certainly not after £1300 saville row suits.

Id probably say about £250 per suit, considering we will be buying 5 at same time of same style and material.

And when I say "suit" it may just be a blazer and waistcoat or trousers and blazer, it wont be a full 3 piece.

You're going to struggle to get something made for £250.

When I say struggle, I mean it won't happen.

At that sort of price, you'll probably be safest going to Slaters or somewhere similar, buying some matching off the shelf stuff, and having it altered properly so it fits well.
The issue we have is, im 6'7 and have arms longer than Mr tickle, one of my ushers is about 4 foot 2 and another one is a mini Mr muscle with big shoulders and a tiny waist

So while we can all find suitable clothes, there is about 0% chance they will be from the same company/shop.

A tweed jacket and waist coat from one of the bespoke kilt outfitters would be £600ish. You could probably get off the peg for standad tweeds or hire for £50 each and they could get the weird sizes.

Have a look at some kilt hire offerings online and see what they have off the peg.

I'd be very surprised if somewhere like Slaters couldn't provide what you want. As has already been mentioned, going the bespoke route will cost you a considerable amount of money.

If you can find anyone in this country who will make you a decent made-to-measure suit for £250, please share it as I'll buy several.

£250 is average quality off-the-peg. A UK-made tailored suit I would expect to start at 3 times as much.

Just went through this for my sisters wedding. Ended up at Slaters. Branches across the uk, we used for different shops to get 6 suits all the same. Ranging from 20 stone monster to normal bloke. All alterations included and have a specialist section for big fat tall etc.

It's been a few years since I used them but dressed2kill mentioned above also make nice suits but not for £250.

http://www.victorvalentine.co.uk/

They have their premises in Southampton, and apparently do a made to measure tailoring service.

Their suits are in the £250-£400 region and have a decent selection of different tweed styles. I ordered my wedding suit from them online a few weeks ago, so it should be due in the next 10 days or so. I can report back how it is once it shows if you like.

ETA - no idea if their prices change if taking on the MtM service by the way, I just ordered from the online store.

Rent a proper morning suite or you will upset/embarrass someone.

That’s the great thing, its our day and we can do whatever we wish.

We are not having a "traditional" reception in any sense of the word, its more vintage vehicles, cider and hay bales than silver cutlery, fancy suits and forced poses

I got married in February this year, my suit was virtually identical to the one in your pic (but it was 3 piece). It was about 300 quid I think from suitsupply in London (they've got one in Westfield, one 'near' Savile Row and maybe some others..)
Off the shelf, then altered to fit.
Morning suits? Yawning suits!

Quite right, mans. Been through the same nonsense myself because I'm apparently 'supposed' the wear a kilt. So on the biggest day of my life I'm supposed to muddle through by sitting akwardly, dreading pissing, and having the world's whitest knees feature prominently in my photography? fk that.
