I have just seen some very sad news from the US - the passing of the legendary Raymond Beadle. An absolute hero from my childhood with the Blue Max - in my humble opinion still the most beautiful funny car ever made. I consider myself extremely lucky to have witnessed this magical combination at the Pod back in the day. A great loss to the history and tradition of the sport.

For me, Ray and the Blue Max epitomised all that is/was the best about drag racing. Nitro funny cars (which looked like cars albeit a bit 'funny') and the right mix of competition and showmanship. Excitement personified.

"Back then" the sport was made up of showmen, The Snake, The Mongoose, Jungle Jim, The Hawaiian, Snowman, and the Blue Max was one of the top turns, just sad I didnt see him when he came over...
