What is the total amount spent on your car?

I've just spent a few hours organising all the receipts for my car in date order (sad I know)
I totalled up all the money spent on services tyres etc.
I have a 1992 964 with 97k miles and the total was £19.500.
I'm interested to see how this compares to other owners history.....

p.s. No engine rebuild or full re-spraying has been required on my car so this figure above is purely servicing, tyres and maintenance etc......

Have either of you included the purchase price in your figures?
I think for this thread to make most sense it needs to show when the car was acquired (and maybe what initial expenditure was expected and hence taken into account when agreeing purchase price) as well as how much was paid.
It'll all make for interesting reading....

I don't want to start comparing current values vs price paid on this thread - it's probably worth starting another thread to discuss this topic.

That makes interesting reading. Some of those prices from the early nineties for extras, are as much if not more than they cost on a modern 911.I think when I owned my 964, looking at that list she had about 7K of extras. That would have made her 55K new, 22 years ago.
If I have read your OP correctly. Then your 964 has just had shy of 20K spent on her in 22 years. I'd say that's bargain motoring.
I wasn't trying to get into values in the way you suggest but as most people won't have had their car from new and are unlikely to have a record of everything spent on it prior to their acquisition it seems a good idea to get a relevant starting point. Leave out the purchase price if you prefer but expected spend upon acquisition is relevant - someone may have bought £3k cheaper so they could spend £3k on it, meaning their measurable costs only start after that.

2)Subsequent Service and mechanical costs (including tyres: £21,106.70
3)Bodywork, cosmetics, and restoration costs (Personal contributions) : £10,372.24
With further estimated contributions from 3rd parties i.e Approved Bodyshop Warranty etc of approximately £12,000
So, total personal costs (excluding purchase price) over my 16-years of ownership so far amount to some £31,478.94, or £1,967.43 per annum.
Add on the purchase price and it comes to an eye watering personal spend of £76,473.94 over those 16-years.

997.1 turbo. Had since April 2013, spend has been £120 for Indy to do 12 month oil change (didn't want to wait for next OPC service after 2 years) and refunded cost of satnav module after windscreen replacement damaged original unit.
Car hasn't done many miles but is ultra reliable so far. Prob need tyres next year, so that with service will be a more expensive year, but still nothing to worry about.

Interesting thread this, me and a pal of mine were looking at my 993 Turbo sat in the garage a few years back discussing the few jobs oustanding on it, front end paint(slight stone chip rash), suspension refresh (dampers ok but old), lower cam covers (slight sweat), bumper brackets (surface corrosion) and a set of boots (legal but old)....as we shut the garage door jokingly I said that will be about ten grand then....
I was right.
Prior to this expense the car had a clutch and flywheel, front wishbones, service, track rods, leads, diverter valves, AFM, turbo oil lines, rotor arm, dizzy cap, coil etc.
So over the ten years Ive had it I would estimate that Ive spent in excess of 17K on it keeping it 'right'. The car has 45K on the clock.
On the flipside Ive only done about a thousand miles a year in it.......
The thing is, if you were to look at the car prior to any of the work with a view to buying it, you would never guess it could swallow such a vast amount of money in short oreder getting it right.

I bought my 964 c2 (manual) in 2002 for £12.750. Since then and including tax, insurance, servicing and oh yes a complete engine rebuild my total cost including purchase price £42k.
However if the car is worth say £32k+ (I would not sell it it for £35k to be honest) and using man logic, owning the Porsche works out at less than £1k per year - or £20/week.
Considering my BMW or Mercs cost me about £5k/year that is cheap motoring - or it would be if I did not have the other cars as well.

Interesting that. I bought my 1992 964 C2 for exactly the same amount in 2004 and it was a low mileage <50K miles top spec C2 in black. Now look at them!!!I bought my 964 c2 (manual) in 2002 for £12.750.

What amazes me the most though is how much they lost in the previous 10 years. Mine was sold new for around 55K, yet 12 years later it was less than 13K from a dealer. ..... Just shows how much the 964 was not loved back in the day.
