Have an 848 with a full leo vince sbk system on it - it's LOUD (to me at least), even with the baffles in, not dared try it without..

Don't mind so much on the road, but I want to take it on track - I have no idea whether it will get inside noise limits, but I rather doubt it. I also have the original system sitting in a box, but to revert to that would be a major faff - all the joins are in different places, so it looks like I'd have to swap from the heads right back.

Wondering if anyone has any experience with:
a) What kind of levels these actually make (i.e. is it a problem)
b) If there are any options to further muffle it beyond the stock baffle?
c) If there are specific downsides to reverting to stock (other than generally sounding less awesome and making a smidge less power perhaps)

Cheers.
(p.s. yes, I appreciate this is a bit backwards, but IMHO there's no point in having a great bike and only being able to ride it on the roads at 1/10th of it's potential)

Just take it to your local track and they'll test it for free. Chances are its not as loud as you think, and could well be suitable for track use. Then you can start riding on the road with the baffles out and have some fun with it.

Download a decibel meter app and find out for yourself.

It'll be fine with baffles in on track, I'm sure - the baffles are supposed to be MoT ok. Tracks vary in how loud they accept, but I'm pretty certain they'll be under 101db with baffles in. Take it to a trackday that you are not booked on, if in doubt and get them to test it, saying you are planning to book one soon and don't want to get turned away.

Take them out and enjoy the noise on the road though!

The KTM RC8 wont pass some track noise limits with the stock exhaust, let alone an aftermarket one, with or without baffles...

Noise limits at Castle Coombe, only a few miles up the road from me

Thanks - the combe link in particular was quite interesting (and surprising).

MOT had an advisory for 'loud exhaust' rofl although that was pre-baffles. As to db meter apps, I'm inclined to believe they're worth about what you pay for them wink certainly not inclined to book a TD on the strength of it.

Sadly looking like I'll not be able to get on track until next year anyhow. Guess that gives me plenty of time smile

I read an article recently comparing dB meter apps with a proper meter. As I recall the free ones didn't do that well, but there were some cheap ones which were surprisingly accurate. I'll try to find it again.

This was my MOT certificate I got back on the old Adventure - Akrapovic system with baffles:

Apparently my tester liked V-Twins...

I've got a loaner TDM 900 with apparently street legal blue Flames on... Baffles are there, bike is deafening. I like the deep tone but not the volume. Can't see how they are legal.
