What do you expect we have endured years of lies and deceit peddled at us in the name of poilitical correctness and multiculturalism from our political elite and media.

Don't like the EU your a 'little englander'
Don't like mass immigration your a racist.
Don't like islamisation your an Islamaphobe.
Don't approve of gay marriage your a homophobe.

Been accused of racism and bigotry for mearly holding a different view to the liberal progressive elite is wearing thinner and thinner by the day and hopefully this time the silent majority will start to topple the vocal minority.

I'll just leave this here as a reminder of millions of missing votes. As it's the Con thread, predictions? Fewer than 9 million? Fewer than 8.5? Any advance?

never thought I would see this. A true statement from this logon.

Unfortunately, spoilt by the trash talk either side of it

Thats not 'the people', thats only London! And only 4 in 10 at that.

Hoping the rest of the country can see beyond Boris's fake image, as I would favour May personally.
A recent YouGov survey suggests that he's the most popular Tory across the country.

Boris Johnson is the clear favourite to replace David Cameron as Prime Minister and Conservative leader – beating Theresa May and George Osborne on every measure

And Jeremy Clarkson would probably score even higher.

Not indicative of whether it would be a good idea though...

Are poor results indicative of that?

Poor results are indicative of poor performance. Not sure where you're going with this though...

So who will get the big cabinet posts?

I wonder of Osborne will be moved to the Foreign Office.

Where do you fit Boris in?

TV at lunch said that GO had toyed with that because he wanted to be chief negotiator with the EU, but instead he will stay at no 11 and join the EU negotiating team.

I wouldn't be surprised to see May moved to the FO and Boris in as Home Sec. I can't see him fitting in anywhere else.

It seems a bit premature but there is a lot being written in the media about Osborne's upcoming 'coronation' as Tory leader/PM. He has even started doing world tours like a young Crown prince preparing for the top job.

Meanwhile Boris is being left behind.

Boris in the wilderness
His leadership campaign is foundering while Osborne surges ahead

Osborne was on R4 just a little earlier talking about EU renegotiations. Apparently he doesn't want to leave the EU because it'll put a dent in his political ambitions. Enough for me to not be a supporter.

Is it just me or have we been told that the deficit will be eliminated "next year" for years now?

The target was for eliminating the deficit by the end of the last parliament and to run a surplus in 2018
The national debt has doubled since the Con-Dem coalition, but only the Conservatives can be trusted with our economy biggrin

His projections are rather optimistic. I think recent ones which put it later in this parliament made assumptions of 5%/year growth.

Edit: Budget surplus? Get a reality check

The national debt was going to double regardless of who was in charge. The size of the deficit saw to that.

This morning I hear Cameron thinks we need a house building 'crusade'. How is this in any way conservative?

poor choice of words but there is little doubt that more homes need to be built - the problem is the idea place to build (brown-field sites) are expensive WRT clean-up costs and so we concrete over another bit of green frown
