no Birkett thread this year, does that mean no one here is doing it?

The grid is full, so there should be 70 cars going into the first corner! Bring it on.

Team 51, should be good fun with a full grid! Who is crazy enough to start the race is the question!!

They started the race behind the Safety Car this year rather than the usual grid start. It did make for a safer start but was not as much fun as previous years. It was safer than a rolling start which the organisers said they would never do and for this race format I tend to agree.

Here is the first lap from onboard my car (Toyota MR2 Roadster)

And this is quick 80 secs of race footage which I think typified the Birkett Experience.

The race was not without incident however with the Safety Car doing 94 minutes, more than most drivers!

Great day as always. Is there any news on the guy who was airlifted from the circuit? Hope he is ok.

Does anyone have any pictures from the day?

Also hope the driver from the BMW is ok!

What an interesting day, a little bit cold but it stayed dry. I spoke to the BMW driver just before he left the track and he was totally fine. Hope the other guy is ok as well.

What happened with that crash with the Radical and the BMW? The Radical was running closely with another one when they passed the previous lap.

It's quite difficult to see them coming with them being low, and even more difficult to see the second one if it's close behind another car.

There is a little column in Autosport this week and it has some information on this particular incident. The Radical driver was Charles Harvey-Kelly and after a careful and lengthy extraction, and treatment at Silverstone's medical centre, he was transferred to Coventry Hospital where he was treated for "severe head injuries". My very best wishes to Charles and I hope he makes a full recovery.

I don't personally understand why there is a concrete wall, without a layer of tyres, in what is fairly close proximity to the track.

Chris.

Best wishes to Charles. Don't know him but he used to race in the same series at Lydden Hill and was a regular championship winner.

Blimey!! That sounds pretty serious. Some big speeds through there. The braking area is covered for tyres but the exit isn't. Much like when you exit Becketts/Chapel I suppose.

But if you were going to cover that, the pit wall at Woodcote isn't the nicest thing to hit I'd imagine.

Fair point.
