Shame would have been helpful to borrow one from stig to do some measuring up
only out by 0.6mm but guess that's far enough.S800VXR said:
3rd page and I only showed you a picture of a tyre!
Anyhow its arrived today so if I get time over the weekend I might jack the car and lay it in there to get an idea of the work needed.
I didn't comment cause I mistakenly thought you were going to cut it into 2 tyres.....silly meAnyhow its arrived today so if I get time over the weekend I might jack the car and lay it in there to get an idea of the work needed.
Went down the road of inboard expansion of my wheels on the Monaro. It added up to being far more expensive than a 9-inch rear. Not sure what parts are available for the VXR8 IRS, but the ones for the Ro weren't considered that reliable. Hopefully it's only a bit if tin work to open up the arches.
Well got the car up today and to be honest it does not look a huge amount of work. The inner arch needs to be cut out and made flush with the chassis rail which won't be hard, no suspension parts will foul apart from the remote can on the Supercar coilovers but thats easy to move. Main issue is the fuel filling pipe as this will need to be re-routed as it currently runs next to the chassis rail.
A few basic measurement appear to give me 16mm to split between inner and outer clearence but I will roll the arches out about 10mm to get the runner flat edge angled out to match the front aches more.
Some pictures
They look massive in real life and even my none car nut neighbours looked impressed!
This is the chassis rail the tub needs to go back to which also shows the fuel filler pipe that needs to go
The money shot although poor light detracts from the width

Yep. That's the Carlos Fandango view. Watch out for the gateposts Rog'!A few basic measurement appear to give me 16mm to split between inner and outer clearence but I will roll the arches out about 10mm to get the runner flat edge angled out to match the front aches more.

Will the brake pipe mounting also need to be taken out, or is that inside of the wheel, so won't foul?
Also, you may want to give yourself a few mm leeway to give you a bit of offset scope, and allow for different tyre widths (as few 345 tyres are actually 345mm wide).

how much do these tyres cost over stock sizes, are they even easily available?
Seems like a whole load of trouble for little gain to me but I do admire your sense of adventure

adding 285s on a Monaro so going to be good to see 345s on an 8
hope to fit 305s to mine one day. But no more room inside so will have to go out woulds

Booked into see Andy on Sat now, might even leave it there as away for 2 weeks and he seems to think its not a big job...? Mind you I suppose its not compared to what other stuff he does.
He has a CV8 so already in the fold
