Dual clutch+performance upgrade to My V8V
Discussion
A few months ago I posted my concerns ref the oem clutch on my 2013 AMV V8, well I've taken the plunge and had firstly the twin plate clutch upgrade, ( done in August) and just had the performance upgrade carried out by Bamford Rose.
As many of you will be aware, the performance upgrade includes new equal length exhaust manifolds, 200 cell cats, plus induction box upgrade along with ecu remap.
The results, well, wow! I can't believe Ithe difference in my car, it snarls when the loud button is pressed and it's quite when the valves are closed, it's quite a bit quicker on the uptake too.
The dual clutch is 10- times better than the original and very poor in my opinion original single plate arrangement, it's so much smoother, quicker on the uptake, gear change has improved significantly.
Mike, Adrian and Mat are all great to deal with, they explain everything in detail ahead of the work, prices are agreed and don't vary on completion.
I would recommend them to anyone wanting to have either of these upgrades done, I now have the Aston that I wanted in the first place, it now goes how it looks, Great!

Glad to hear that you are happy with the BR treatment. My car has had the same (clutch, headers & cats) and you're right, it totally transforms the car. I'm also contemplating the adjustable suspension.
Would it be worth editing your posts (and the thread title) to remove the twin/dual confusion?

OK so here is my quandary.
I have had my 2009MY 4.7 V8V just over a year now in which time we have been 8000 thoroughly enjoyable miles. I fully recognise that the OEM clutch is not the best and I am very tempted by the BR twin plate upgrade but: 1) Mine had a new clutch when I got it at 16,000 miles (clutch was slipping when I test drove it at main dealer - ahem!), 2) I have mastered the OEM clutch over the year such that I can drive around its inadequacies (90% of the time).
I then test drove a V12V (twice!) and immediately recognised that the clutch is so much better and I suspect is what the BR twin plate is like to use. The V12 is so tempting for so many reasons but I suspect I will not be able to get it on & off my drive without destroying the splitter every time which is not really economically viable.
So do I put up with my OEM clutch until it dies or will I really find that a twin plate TRANSFORMS the car despite now having got used to the standard clutch. I also realise that if I go down that road I'm bound to end up with new exhaust manifolds and cats then won't need to worry about getting a V12 up the drive. But, on the other hand, IMHO there is just something about the V12V that a modified V8 can't quite ever replicate.
Ahhhhhhh! Help please. Strongly held opinions either way very much welcome. Thanks.

I got close to Kiera Knightley once.....didn't do me any favours.....much better to have the real deal.....what's wrong with putting a small ramp on the bottom of drive to prevent bottoming out....a good piece of 4 x2 is also a good idea.....has the added benefit of being handy should someone try to mess with car.....although as Paddy knows....plastic is better....

If only it were that simple Tony. The drive has already been quite well sculpted to the slope (which is considerable) as you can see below:And whilst my V8V goes up & down it fine the clearance is minimal (<1 inch) and therefore I suspect the splitter on a V12 (and maybe also a V8VS) would not clear it. Yes, I know, obvious solution, move house. Problem is I very much like my house as well as my car.
Why don't you organise a test drive of a V8VS or V12V with your local dealer and make sure they understand that trying out getting on your drive is part of the test drive.
They can watch the front end to make sure it doesn't get damaged and you can find out if it works or not.
Our local one was very good when we wanted to test out the luggage capacity etc of the V8VS Roadster and lent us one for the day to try out.
