Tony, I am only insured on the track with other Astons with Locktons Insurance. I guess my insurers trying to cover their exposure to risk.
I am fine if you open it up to others, no problem. I will need to opt out.
I am also insured with Lockton and I'm not sure if that is the case, William. Here is the relevant section from the Policy summary:I am fine if you open it up to others, no problem. I will need to opt out.
"The Name of Insured, as shown on the Certificate of Motor Insurance, may use a covered vehicle on a race track or circuit in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the islands of Guernsey, Jersey and Alderney, provided that there is no involvement in racing, pacemaking, or being in any contest, speed trial, or any rigorous reliability testing on your vehicle.
In the event of a claim under the Comprehensive Vehicle Cover section of your Policy, arising from that use, we will deduct 10% of the last declared value for your vehicle from the amount that we will pay.
If your vehicle is considered to be a total loss (write-off), arising from that use, and you wish to retain the salvage, the 10% deduction will not apply, but we will deduct 30% of the market value of the vehicle (market value immediately prior to an incident resulting in the write-off of your vehicle) from the amount that we pay you for the claim.
These amounts are on top of any other amount that you may have to pay under this insurance."
No mention of AMs only on track.

How do you have white burgundy?! Surely a contradiction? Leave the pro-drinking to the big boys
I guess you've never heard of Montrachet, Chablis, Meursault?

Now how do you have a wine that combines a red and a white wine? Is that like a rosé?

OK, so I feel stupid. I had email communication from Locktons to say that I am insured for Track Days with AMOC and any AM Track Days." The following Contract Modifications apply to Your Policy, and override the basic Policy

I have just emailed Locktons and asked for further clarity and they have quoted me the following from my policy which means I AM able to do open pit-lane track days
Quote:
Yes, you are insured to use your Aston Martin on a track day within the UK. The track day wording is as follows:
The Name of Insured, as shown on the Certificate of Motor Insurance and or a qualified ARDS instructor, may use a covered vehicle on a race track or circuit in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the islands of Guernsey, Jersey and Alderney, provided that there is no involvement in racing, pacemaking, or being in any contest, speed trial, or any rigorous reliability testing on your vehicle.
In the event of a claim under the Comprehensive Vehicle Cover section of your Policy, arising from that use, we will deduct 10% of the vehicle value shown on your schedule from the amount that we will pay.
If your vehicle is considered to be a total loss, arising from that use, and you wish to retain the salvage, the 10% deduction will not apply, but we will deduct 30% of the market value of the vehicle (market value immediately prior to an incident resulting in the total loss of your vehicle) from the amount that we pay you for the claim.
These amounts are on top of any other amount that you may have to pay under this insurance.
Vehicle Third Party Liability Cover
Amount of cover provided under this section whilst driving under the Track use extension is limited to £2,000,000.
I’m hoping the above wording clarifies your below queries?
No, you do not need to notify us before you attend an event. The excess, as stated, is 10% of the vehicle value shown on your schedule. Correct, you can take you vehicle on any UK track day, provided that there is no involvement in racing, pacemaking, or being in any contest, speed trial, or any rigorous reliability testing on your vehicle.
Tony, thanks for sharing your policy wording - we have the same wording, but BravoV8V your wording is different, why is that, we're all at Locktons?

Agreed. It's that attention to detail with George.Burgundy (large B) is a place: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burgundy
For example, if you tell George it's an oxymoron he's fine with that.
If you tell George it's an oxy, moron he's also fine with that as he doesn't realise he has been insulted.
Thank God his job doesn't require much attention to detail
When I was a lad I used to work for Millets the clothing company. My family knew them well ( so no insulting remarks please) Anyway the MD's chauffeur was nice bloke but couldn't string a sentence together with a few "f's" and blimeys... Peter Millet went with Frank the chauffer to order a new Daimler and when they got back we asked what it was like.
"Eff'in lovely," said Frank. So was asked what colour it was. "Dark eff'in red," said Frank.
"What? A sort of wine colour we asked?"
"No," said Frank (and I'll always remember this) "It's better than eff'in wine, it's called burgundy!"

Does that mean you have to be accompanied by an ARDS instructor whilst driving on circuit, to have cover?
As I'm relatively sober and everyone else is on the beach I will have a stab at an explanation. When we insure helicopters cover applies to named pilots plus "any" qualified instructors. My guess is that Locktons view any owner taking instruction from an ARDS instructor as a good thing so "throw in" the cover. Is this classified as work?
Now, where has the wine gone
