Never done this before (always used etyres / event tyres / or one of the ones that nominates a local garage to do the fitting), but just bought a replacement tyre online.

Have called 2 local tyre fitters who have refused to fit it. confused I don't expect them to do it for free, but £20 or whatever for 10 minute's work doesn't seem excessive. One of them told me it was due to their insurance.

Is it really this difficult? Am I going to have to return the tyre to camskill?

Anybody know of a tyre fitter near Bromley who will fit a customer tyre!?

I can't answer you, but as someone who is planning on buying a couple of tyres from TyreLeader in the next couple of months with a view to taking them somewhere, it's something I'd be interested to know as well!

Were any of the places you tried independent or were they both chains? I've never tried a chain, but never found an independent fitter who wont fit them (although admittedly I've only tried two).

Likewise. Though I also normally make a point of going when they're quiet.

I just did this. I called up my local independent fitter who charge £15 a corner and then just took the car and tyres in to get them done. It was still cheaper than BlackCircles.

Same here - my local independents have always done this at quietish periods - £10/corner is typical.

This is how I almost always buy tyres and don't have a problem finding someone to fit them. There's a small independent nearby and a much larger place, still non-chain, a bit further away who will fit them for £15 a corner.

Perhaps if you provided your location someone could recommend a place.

If you can't find a tyre dealer who will do it, try your local wheel refurbishing businesses. Some will sell tyres, but many won't. They will without fail have tyre fitting equipment which is usually better quality and less abused than the majority of high street retailers. I will only use my favoured refurbisher for fixing punctures, swapping tyres etc and they usually charge a tenner to do so. The one I use sells tyres but they can't match the online prices but don't moan at me for bringing in what I've bought elsewhere

I'm in Bromley, Kent. Tried Tyre Pros (small chain) who flat out refused, and a local independant who said their insurance only let them fit their own tyres (which I can sort of understand).

+1 And my chap actually uses a torque wrench rather than that terrible air gun.

Had the same experience.

Independent 1&2 - Refused to fit tyres that were not bought from them.
Independant 3 - Was worried he may scratch my alloys fitting the tyre (19x275x35) which I found odd.

National Tyres - Fitted for £16 a corner including new valves, balancing and disposal of the worn tyres.

That's right it costs a couple of £ to get rid of the old tyre I believe

ATS will usually do it for £15. They are also the only tyre fitter I've used that always balances my wheels properly.

Have you tried places from their list - they show 34 places in Kent?

I had tyres fitted by quickfit, cant remeber the cost per wheel, but it was about £70 for 4 tyres fitted, balanced, new valves, old tyres disposed of and getting the tracking done

Place called Tyreland next door to my work charges £10 per corner, their only stipulation being that the tyres must be new. A friend was charged £20 a corner at a place in Basingstoke which i thought was rather steep but still cheaper than buying the tyre from them.

That's why I resist from buying tires online, it's stupid especially when you get asked for another £30 to have them balanced. Which is exactly 2 minutes of work for all 4 wheels
