Are we still in the EU?

I'd rather keep the 1.7Bn I think.

EU demands 1.7 billion.

Cameron acts tough gets them to withdraw the request.

makes big deal about it, you See we are not run by the EU no need to vote Yes to leaving EU.

Cameron and his EU buddies laugh it up and slap each other on the back.

Why would he cave? And who to? He wants us to stay in Europe, despite what he says, and so do his "opponents" in Brussels. He will pretend to fight it while all along making sure we don't leave the EU.

This is a big issue in terms of perception. If Cameron fails to destroy this, he's toast. He will be feeling the pressure tonight.

Interesting times.

There will probably be loads of EU supporters, including Cameron, who'll say that and much more is a price worth paying to remain a member of the scam.

Pissed me off royally reading this this morning. Anything other than a flat "Bugger off" from Cameron will essentially guarantee a Labour victory in the next election as more people switch to UKIP. Who knows...I may well be one of them!

The thing is IF these were always the T&Cs and we genuinely have increased from 1995 to 2014 while Germany has decreased then we have to pay.

The annoyance clearly is this is more than the child benefit which was cut for earning more than £50/60k so in essence we are now no better off.

The only solution is that EU budget is decreased from its 1995 position to 2014 position.

Also for the Scottish this is now a further £170 million they need to find given the £5illion additional gap found yesterday this makes for even more challenging stuff for them to deal with

Good ole USSR sit around in the sun fk up your economy by voting for a socialist nut job or let the greens dictate policy, that will be a rebate..... If we are going to stay in the EU maybe we had better vote labour!!!

Also Wales will need to find £80million of cuts - what will they cut?

I'm not sure on the split for N Ireland

Also we actually seem to be improving in our standings against France and Germany who are higher in GDP earnings than UK how does that sit? Does it mean more voting powers in the EU ?

End of the day this is a boost for UKIP and also the referendum vote.

Apparently Greece has done better than expected and has to pay more, so the EU will have to give money to Greece for them to give it back.

I was about to ask that; I'm not really up on the exact ins and outs of being part of the EU, however we seem to put a massive amount of money into it, do we ultimately see that money and more back, in trade, or is there more to the whole thing?

Our council used EU money to employ Bodgeit and Sons to re do the street in our town. Took an inordinate amount of time and they cannot even get a road level. They seem to come back a lot to do repairs. So yeah, it does come back but incompetent "committees" (council) get to spend it and tell the locals it is not out taxes that are being spent, sorry, wasted. It must go to tender for the cheapest bidder.

Is that the one and only criteria a company is picked? Seems a bit daft.

I don't know how it works but it took a few years. I am not in the industry, just a miffed user of the end product, when I see a major junction on the M6 ( a few years ago) knocked around in six months then see this, I suppose they get value for money.
