Hi all, not a massive watch guy or anything so please dont shoot me down.

Younger bro got me a watch from Dubai. Think its a like for like but would be keen to see if anyone could find me the original with which to compare with.

google image search IWC watches and you'll see practically the entire range, current and past. I did it quickly and could see nothing remotely similar.

I think it's supposed to be an IWC Portuguese Regulator.

That looks pretty similar doesn't it? Movement looks completely different but hey-ho.

Also, judging by your hand writing you're either an Architect or a GP.

I think it's supposed to be an IWC Portuguese Regulateur Tourbillon. In Platinum. Or White Gold. But I suspect that your brother didn't pay $60 odd thousand for it......

Yeah, its based on that model for sure but looks as if it has used colouring and a strap from whatever bits where lying around the workshop.

Brother is the architect! And not a GP I am afraid.

Thanks for finding this.

Thanks, that does look similar.

I think it supposed to be a like-for-like copy. The question is does it look fake or can I get away with it? For me, as I said I usually wear a Garmin Forerunner (GPS sports watch) so anything which is not plastic is a step up!

To the average public, you can get away with it. Someone who knows about watches, probably not.. Never really understood the whole fake scene, but I guess this makes us all different...

If it works and you enjoy wearing it, keep it on. You know that it's fake, so just don't go around pretending it's the real thing.

This one looks as close a match I can find.

In all honesty this is the only fake item I have. And it looks amazing.

Thanks for all the help, have a good weekend.

As it happens I have a white gold Portuguese. The supplied strap is a brown Crocodile jobbie, so the strap might be the most authentic thing about the watch smile

The movement (in the fake) looks a lot like a Unitas 6497/8 or, more likely, an Asian copy of one.
