Hi All, I want to replace the suspension on my 03 WRX Wagon as the shocks have about had it.

I'm thinking about upgrading from stock but I’m not sure what to go for. I don't want to spend too much but I do realise you get what you pay for.
I've seen the below kit online and wondered if anyone has used them or has any better ideas for the same kind of money?

Depends on what you want out of it. Coilovers are one solution, but if you go down this route, make sure you compare the spring rates to the standard units and also the preloaded on the springs, otherwise it could be rock hard. Some units have adjustable top mounts on the front which can be used to get more negative camber on the front wheels, improving turn in.
Other solution for a more standard effect and feel is to get KYB Excel damper units to directly replace the OE units and maybe a set of Prodrive springs to tweak ride height and feel.
My 03 wagon has Coilovers with standard spring rates and I play with the damping to get a ride like standard for when the family is in the car and can stiffen the damping for when I want to play.

Coilovers are often too much in a road car (speaking from experience).

Get some good dampers and springs. Or go standard and spend the money on some cheaper upgrades like ARBs etc.

KYB Excel-G dampers are your answer. Slightly stiffer than standard but still less so than an sti.

For me the cheapest place was bestpartstore. £154 for rears delivered from Germany, a bargain compared with some of the English companies. And delivery within a working week!

If you want stiffer still, they do an inverted strut in the Ultra-sr, but as with all inverted strut designs, you'd be better to stay away. They don't last.

The original springs will be fine to re-use, but if you insist on knocking your fillings out, sti springs can be got easily off of any friendly scooby forum.

There isn't an ultra SR for the Wagon. A lot of places incorrectly list them but when you look in to it they're not for the GG chassis. They will fit bolt up but you need to be careful with the geometry/alignment.

The later wagons came with inverted rear shocks... mine died at 30,000 miles. I replaced them with 03 style ones!
