Well as the title states, I'm now starting the search for my dream car and I'd much rather buy from a fellow enthusiast than from a garage that doesn't know anything about the car.

Firstly, my price bracket is around £20k but may be willing to increase this for the perfect car.

I'm looking for either a Monaco Blue or Sapphire Black really but space grey is also a possibility. The verdict is still out.

As I'll be using this as a daily, the lower the mileage the better.

Not overly fussed about soft close doors, comfort access etc as the cars are fairly well spec'd as standard.

So if you or anyone you know is selling theirs and it's black or blue, I would be keen to hear more about them.

Thanks,

H

As far as I'm aware Monaco blue is just a blue on regular BMWs, it's not an M or individual colour. Therefore I highly doubt there's a single Monaco blue on an E61 M5 which is already a rare car. Plenty of blacks and greys though.

2nd post in this topic says there should be 25 of them so roughly 1 in 8 of those in the UK.

I could be tempted to let mine go for the right offer, it's sapphire black with FULL Indianapolis red leather ie dash and doors-all options too. Full supplying dealer BMW history,2 owners, news discs and pads, big service just done and new tyres AND BMW extended warranty.

Pampered car, and the BMW dealership know it well (their head M technician is the only persons thats ever worked on it and loves it-always comes and chats to me after about what he's done which is nice).

The original owner i know, he is an avid Ferrari collector and knows about mechanical sympathy so it was run in and treated properly. I have EVERY bill from new and i mean EVERY bill including the original order form and bills for every TWS oil refill! The car needs nothing, there are no scratches, chips or dents-it could almost be concourse and i mean that when i say it. You'd be hard pushed to find one anywhere near as good or as original with all the paperwork it has as well.

At the moment it's not getting used anymore so it seems a waste having it sat in the garage when someone else could be enjoying it! It's only done 61k. Let me know if you want to chat.

As daft as it sounds i've only got one when it's just returned from a 3k mile trip to Italy and back so it's probably not the best! Its due a wash this weekend so i'll get some pics up and maybe get serious about moving it on. The BMW warranty is transferable to the new owner too smile

Sounds like a good car.

Just a couple of questions;
Has any work been done to the clutch?
Did you say it had every option fitted?
What's the monthly cost for the warranty?
What's the reason for selling?

It would be good to see some photos so fingers crossed you can give her a wash at the weekend. thumbup

Mine's averaged one owner per year too, I suspect that unless it is part of someone's multi-car collection it is the type of car that is amusing to own for a short period and then you come to your senses and get something more sensible.

I'll be looking to sell mine in the New Year (after around 13-14 months ownership), which was always the plan when I bought it.

It's not the ideal car for urban use - the SMG gearbox's starting off in first gear and low speed, low throttle upshifts are not its best points and the fuel consumption in traffic can make your eyes water. Add almost £500/year in road tax and I suspect some people get tired of the car rather quickly and move it on. But get onto an open road where you can use the revs and a decent fraction of its speed capability and it's a delight to drive. Horses for courses and all that.

I'm really looking forward to having to drive a car again instead of it diving me which is essentially what an automatic does.
When I first experienced the SMG, I was amazed that I could actually feel the biting point as if I was driving a manual car with a DIY clutch. Very clever stuff but I can see why people don't like it, especially when they expect it to drive like an auto.
I drove around Crawley for a little bit and even in D, I enjoyed driving it.

The £500 road tax I can swallow as it's only a few tanks of fuel really.

Can't wait to own one.

i'm lucky in the fact that mine has only had i previous owner, and he used it mainly on motorways.

but like everybody has said its history and condition. don't just trust the service book receipts are better.

Same as my RS6 really but I bought on condition.

What do you think you'll replace yours with?
