X Drive failure

My 8 month old 320 D auto started a slight judder under load. I was surprised to hear that it was the X Drive transfer box! One comment was that the tyre wear side to side was different (not as far as I can see) and front to back (correct, but nothing exceptional) was "confusing it"! The x drive transfer box was replaced under warranty, apparently this is not unusual on 3 series x drives. Anyone else heard/experienced anything?
