Will be interesting if it does get PDK-S. Only the GT3 has it thus far as an exclusive - not even the 918 Spyder PDK is PDK-S.

It certainly will be interesting if it gets PDK S with close ratios and short gearing similar to the GT3........this could prove more popular than the 'manuel' non bespoke box with awkwardly tall gearing if this is the only alternative......driving

I love manuals but is the Pdk being forced upon us diehards! Most new sales have been Pdk and the gearing in the manual has got taller over the generations( my 986s hit about 65 in second my 987.2 spyder is over 80 mph so what will a manual gt4 be ? Hence my comment
spyder's max speed in 2nd is 76mph and that's at the limiter in Sports mode !!!

you must be generating a lot of RR4 hits if you keep doing >80mph in 2nd ;-)

987.2 manual top speed in 3rd 104 mph (2nd 76mph)
981 PDK top speed in 3rd 103mph (2nd 74mph)

981 PDK is not really dropping the ratios over the 987.2 manual !!!

the gearing in my R is not the issue it 1st looks like, reason is peak Torque sits at 4750 rpm , not like a 997.2 GT3 85mph in 2nd and peak torque at 6250rpm.

the extra Torque in the 3.6 over the 3.4 should not make the gearing a issue even if it's not changed as the torque peak will be low in the RR :-)
we are going to be seeing GT3 levels of torque but available 1500rpm lower in the GT4 than when driving a 996/997.1 GT3 !!!!

I know better than to challenge you on this! Its a hugely complex subject and my knowledge is rudimentary at best.
My post was intended to point you in a starting direction for taking on your own reading in the search for your answers. Your sequence of posts needed too much input to try and cover so it was far better that I hand it over to you to put in the effort at your end if you wanted to.
I had hoped that you would have went off in search of the answer to the questions posed and from that point found much of interest in which to read further and wider.

The formula that you referred to in your earlier post, that of Power (HP) = Torque x RPM / 5252 , is something that is commonly mistaken for being a home-brew type of thing. In fact it has a very clear explanation and derivation.

Power = Torque x angular velocity ; note Torque x angular displacement represents Work. The adding of time to work in this example has two effects. It changes angular displacement into angular velocity (radians to radians per second) and gives a new term which is Power.
In this equation Power is in W, Torque in Joules per radian and Angular Velocity is in radians per second.

By adding in the conversion factors to turn each of these units to HP, lb ft and rpm respectively, 1 W = ~0.00134 HP, 1 Nm = ~0.738 lb ft and radians per second = rpm x (2pi/60) you end up with the Power (HP) = Torque x RPM / 5252 equation.
If one wanted to use torque in Nm along with RPM to find Power in PS then taking the same approach, applying the relevant conversion factors to the original units would yield Power (PS)= (Torque x RPM) / 7022

Spill the beans, APOLO - What have you heard/ been told?

I still haven't got back to the OPC to make sure I know where I am on the LOI list as I am stuck in the US but I am back to the UK tomorrow.
