Why don't you experts take up my offer and come to Silverstone on Monday as my guests, and we can all see for real how poor the strut suspension is, how weak the 991 engine is and how hopeless the gearing is ? I've been driving on track for more than twenty years, I've raced a fabled "Cup Car" and I can tell for sure from my five track days so far, this is the finest road car I've ever driven on track !

Nobody has said it is hopeless.ravon said:

Should anyone want a run around Silverstone GP in a GT4, I've booked my sixth trackday in mine for next Monday with Gold Track. Running from The Wing, pit box position 8 .

Alot of sand in the proverbial v@ginas here because somebody dares to critizise their newest P&J!
I think people are more bothered about the fact that the criticism comes from those who haven't driven one .Doesn't bother me what faceless people on the internet think, but if you/they are going to offer an opinion it should be at least come from the angle of having driven it,before insulting someones p&J .Sauriel said:
depends how easily you are insulted I guess?
I dont get particularily insulted when people either joke and call my car "gayman", or if they critizise the long gearing or slight lack of drama in the DFI engines compared to the good`ol mezger - which I agree with fwiw.
Maybe a bit paranoid to resort to vaginal metaphors. No-one has disputed your engine and gearing criticisms, only your assertion that the GT4 is not special. I'm sure everyone would love the GT4 to have a Metzger (especially a 3.8 to match the torque of the GT4) but it doesn't and that is reflected in the price. If you had driven a GT4 you might think it less of an issue. If you look back three weeks you can read my back to back comparison of the GT4 with a 997.1 GT3 RS. While not having the time with them or talent of Evo magazine, I found them surprisingly similar in their rewards, even the engines. The GT4 doesn't have quite the top end of a Metzger but I haven't noticed it until high in third gear, and the thump of torque each time you change up is pretty addictive, as is the sound with exhaust button pressed and windows down.I dont get particularily insulted when people either joke and call my car "gayman", or if they critizise the long gearing or slight lack of drama in the DFI engines compared to the good`ol mezger - which I agree with fwiw.
I might be totally wrong about this but is the engine in the GT4 the engine from the 997/2 Carrera rather than the 991? Just that the CO2 figures for the GT4 and 991 sgow a big difference (with different tax bands) and the GT4 and 997/2 are very similar. I was also told that the GT4 uses the older engine.
