I've noticed these cars advertised for sale at A C Roney Sports Cars for what seems like years.

Anyone know the story ? Are they being repeatedly sold ? Are they overpriced and never sold ? Are they any good ?

Are they worth the asking price ?

They both look like decent cars, why aren't they selling ?

If they was worth the asking price then I am sure they would have been sold along time ago IMHO

I have been thinking about the SEAC but its impossible to know its true worth.
If I keep it for 10 years will I get that much back ?
How much is a 'normal' SEAC going for at the moment ?

Most of us buy our cars because we want one of them, not as 'investments'.
It looks to me as though nobody wants one of these cars enough otherwise they would have been sold ,so I.M.O. Prices too high. For what its worth I would love that Taimar or any other nice Taimar as when we bought our 1978 3000M in 1982 the extra cost of the Taimar was just too much (about £500-£600). Also SWMBO wouldnt sell the Tuscan to 'go backover'.
The Griff's a stayer. driving

I would say a good SEAC is worth around £22,000. This one your paying for the name, a little over priced maybe! Cars are worth what somebody will pay for them at the end of the day.
You have to ask yourself..... Am I looking for an investment or a car I really want? You wont go far wrong from there.

Peter Wheeler's Taimar is at AC Roney's for the 2nd time, not because it's been for sale for ever. The buyer (a close friend of mine) bought it from ACR, drove it around for a season and then sold it back to ACR.

I would say that that's £5K too much. In the classifieds now there's a 450SE and another special SE AC at £17K ish however

you've got to think that the pricing must be about right, ie ACR has attracted a buyer, presumably everyone was happy because a while later they are happy to trade again. Also remember that the mid twenties in term of thousands of pounds is cheap for a high performance sports car compared to other manufacturers.

He traded in a Tuscan 2S to get it, so he must have liked it at the time. He flits around between cars and different marques a lot. He sold it and then bought a classic Triumph Stag. I know, I know, makes no sense at all sperm

OTOH he had a car with a reputation for having a fragile engine and liked it but wanted a V8 so bought the SE AC; then he found out that you could have a car with a reputation for having a fragile engine and a V8... smile

The purchaser of Peters Taimar 2 years ago bought it and loved the car however his work situation changed and financially he had to sell the car which he did through another dealer the current owner has had it for less than a year and it looks like it is back with Rooney as a Commission sale I think the current owner paid 18k or there abouts I believe they have done some work on the car ie engine but not sure it is an older restoration now and due to not being used much may need work but to any collector it is a unique example and a shame that its not finding a long term home
