Will be super to have one more racing M on the forum.

And you work looks very promizing.

But..... 800 kg will be a challenge- My M with roll cage, full alu engine and gearbox is race ready @ 1040 kg with driver (subtract around 80kg for equiped driver in my case.

But I did add around 50 kg bracing to the frame, and the cage is roughly 40 kg.

I'll post a picture of my rollcage when the upload button works again

Sub 800KGs for a race car is possible, it's just expensive laugh

So, other than drilling lightening holes, in the bottoms of your pockets, what would you have to do?

I am not building anything at the moment - but I will be viewing a 3000M tomorrow. I also have to say, that I am more at a "basic repair"-stage... I have had/imported two 3000Ms before. They are nice cars, but I have always felt, that they need some updating to be really good. I am driving a Caterham 7 at the moment.

Bernard,
These are the obvious ones. We don't have all of the options on our race car, but I am already sub 800

CDS lighter gauge chassis and cage
Lightweight body
Magnesium Diff with alloy internals
Alloy gearbox and bell housing
Alloy heads
Lightweight wheels
Alloy rad and tanks
Thingauge exhaust system
Aerospace fasteners
Plastic screens
Lightweight Fibreglass bumpers
Loss of interior
Efficient cooling that wil lead to reduced weight in the cooling system itself.

All of the above will get an M down towards 750 kilos smile

The ability to dial in more front camber into the build would be an important option at this point.

Normally to get that John...they need the back welding and dressing and the back plate modifying to allow the ball joint to slide through...it needs looking at to be sure that those figures can be attained.
