Is there a way to connect an old school turntable (Rega Planer 2) to a docking station type device eg BOSE or even some sort of wireless device ? Some have an AUX socket (Bowers and Wilkins) but it is not the same connector as that coming from the turntable. Just curious as rather keen to keep the old amp and speakers in the loft !!

You need a turntable preamp to amplify the signal from the turntable, as it is too low to work with an aux-in socket. They are generally used for connecting a turntable to a hifi amp that doesn't have a dedicated "phono" input.
You will probably need a stereo RCA to 3.5mm jack cable to connect the preamp to the dock.
