Moto G 4G on O2 got the OTA update this morning. Apart from having to set up facial matching again it seems pretty good. Feels snappy in use.

It felt very laggy first boot as it was running a lot of background processes, have a cuppa and give it time to sort itself out if you've got the same setup smile

Take it you ditched the iPhone?

I jumped ship from an iPhone 6 to Galaxy S6 this week smile

I still believe that iOS is the inherently better operating system but there's just too many things that irk me about iOS & the iPhone.

Got one of each, iPhone in one pocket, Moto G in the other. I tend to use the Moto more as Safari is less laggy.

Frustratingly the Android bug that causes a wifi password to be lost and require re-entry has not been fixed. grumpy

Did my Moto G 4g a couple of days ago on T mobile. No problems at all. Works fine, even a little faster. Reception seems better (or they've recalibrated the signal level disply!). Just getting used to the small details like having apps a diferent colour and having to double tap stuff.

Just converted my HTC One M8 from Sense to Google Play Edition (was sense with 5.0.1 now GPE 5.1)

Really pleased with it, stock Android is so much better than the HTC bloatware version.

Is there anyway of getting a truly silent profile though? I can either have the phone sound on or on vibrate.

Used to use silent with vibrate off.

Is that a common issue or just device specific? I've never had the issue since I switched from iphone to nexus 4 nearly three years ago.

Can't answer your query I'm afraid but can you point me in the direction of some process to switch to the GPE ROM please? Interested in doing the same.

XDA forums have a very in depth thread. Basically you have to Root, Upgrade recovery, S-off and then flash the ROM.

This is after changing CID and MID.

Gave up with my Nexus 7 on lollipop after upgrading it a fair few months ago. It's slow, it doesn't work, and they aren't going to fix it. Bought an iPad mini 2 this evening and it's bloody brilliant. I really don't like my work iPhone, but the iPad is very good indeed.

The nexus 7 s now going to be a digital photo frame.

My Xperia Z is nagging me to upgrade.

4.2.2 -> 5.0.2

Sounds like the changes are very minor (so why the big version number jump) and half of them are a step back.

Last time I upgraded it I waited 6 weeks and Sony still had a fked install that ate battery life with no solution ( though I found one no thanks to them..)

Are there any genuine reasons to upgrade?

Flash it back to KitKat. Did mine last night as I was so totally hacked of with Lollipop. It's now beautiful to use again, snappy, instant response.

I'm not sure if these issues are because of Lollipop, but maybe someone knows otherwise:

Bluetooth. With my car system (Alpine head unit with a Parrot bluetooth system) I can scroll through my contacts on the head unit screen but it can't get my call history (Dialled, Received, Missed)

And sometimes when I receive or make a call the other person can hear me fine but I have no sound at all. No dial tone and I cannot hear the other person, but I always have the ringtone.

Any ideas? The phone is a Sony Xperia Z2.

So, I updated to this around 2 weeks ago, and it's turned my previously great Xperia Z1 into a heap of crap.

It's miles slower than before in just loading apps, navigating menus etc. My camera chooses to work seemingly at random, my 'auto brightness' setting for the screen which I always turn off still runs, maximum volume when watching videos seems to have a mind of it's own, the general layout of menus and the look and 'feel' is worse than before, it now takes 2 'actions' to switch the master volume from loud to silent with no vibration - sounds petty but why make a common action like that take longer than before?

So, what do? Can I 'downgrade' to 4.whatever and keep it at that?

I 'upgraded' my Z1 a few weeks ago (via WiFi) and it's been a pile of ste since - slow, laggy, running hotter than usual and battery life was abysmal frown

Reading the myriad fora of people having the same type of problems last night, I decided to try and fix it (after following recurring advice from said discussions):-

If you haven't already, download the Sony PC Companion...

Perform a full backup of your phone (using Backup & Restore).

Go to 'Support Zone --> Phone Tablet Software Update --> Repair My Phone Tablet' and reinstall the latest Lollipop version.

{Note - you won't lose anything on your SD card (make sure music / pictures / movies are on here) and contacts / messages / etc will be saved during backup, but you will lose your Apps so you will have to reinstall these from Play Store.}

Reboot everything and Bob's your Uncle - Everything works fine - it's a pleasure to use once more smile

When the update came along for Lollipop on my OnePlus One, I went ahead and did it. I'm pretty sure the update was responsible, and not anything else I'd downloaded, but it got hot and drained the battery so that it wouldn't last the day (yes, a 3000mah battery turned crap like that). I did a backup and reinstall of a clean system and it's all been fine since. Phone has been on since 7am, with a bit of browsing, email and Simpsons Tapped Out ( hehe ) through the day, and its now 53%. The OnePlus does run Cyanogen android though, not pure basic android.

I thought about trying that, but in the end I decided that that might make it just about acceptable to use and nothing more. It's just an old tablet now, and the iPad mini is so much better than the Nexus ever has been (even when it was new). I am no Apple fanboy - I think some of their products are massively overrated i.e. the iPhone - but this ipad is genuinely great.

Loads of people seem to have the issue on different phones - have a look at https://www.google.com/search?q=android+loses+wifi...

In my case it's Moto G.

I've had my Moto G 4g for a year know, and it's been faultless, apart from it not liking memory cards when it was first introduced.
