can roof panels be bonded ?

I am rebuilding an Innocenti Mini Cooper and have now taken delivery of a Webasto full length sunroof that I want to fit. The Webasto came in a roof panel which looks in excellent condition. The guy mentioned to me that "these can be bonded" to the existing roof rather than welding, which to be honest surprised me but also makes the task ahead a little easier so I am curious. Anyone heard of this, and if so what product to use, or is it better to dismantle and re-fit from one to the other. . . .
