Hi all. We are planning a trip to the Philippines next year and will be spending around 7 days in the Palawan region. Has anyone been before and if so can you recommend a good area to stay? I understand it is quite a large area; we would like somewhere on the coast and ideally situated to get around and see as much as possible. We would like an attractive setting, not too busy or touristy but with a little life in the evenings. Also recommendations for things to do, places to eat etc very much welcomed. Many thanks

El Nido is the most popular area, although I've not been there myself. Honda bay and the underground river are really popular if you fly into Puerto Princessa or if you want to get off the beaten track you could try Port Barton or if you feel like playing Robinson Crusoe for a week then this is the place to go https://www.flipkey.com/port-barton-vacation-renta...

Been to El Nido before and to Puerto Princessa.

Very nice. El Nido is quite hard to get to by air. There used to be a charter flight in a turbo prop (Twin Otter from memory) to NAIA which was run by one of the hotels there. If it wasn't being used by hotel guests, then other pax could use it on a standby basis. Don't know what happens now, other than El Nido is still hard to get to by air!

If you fly into Puerto Princessa, you can get a jeep up a not-too-bad road to El Nido.

It is really beautiful, highly recommended.

Thanks guys. Looks like we might fly into Puerto Princessa, spend a few days there and then travel by road to El Nido.

We will also spend some time in Boracay for a friends birthday, and at the end of the trip, a couple of nights in Manilla
