Not Many.

Mine driven fairly hard gets around 27-32. Keep off boost you get 37ish.

Why the obsession with MPG?

My old EP3 averaged just under 33mpg, that was with a fair bit of VTEC & sitting at 80ish on a motorway for a 70 mile round trip commute.

Get 26mpg in my BRZ driving hard. 40mpg easily achievable the rest of the time.

I don't think there's a petrol car on the planet that's 30mpg while driven hard.

Unless it's electric with a petrol range extender/generator on board smile

Would not count as fun or cool necessarily but I have had/used two cars that driving hard had negligible impact on mpg. A 1989 Cavalier SRi 130 always hovered around 33mpg irrespective of driving styles. Many years earlier when my Escort was off the road for weeks having accident repairs I was loaned a 1977 1.3 Marina. Again I regularly caned this car and it resolutely stuck at 34mpg. No fuel computers in those days just brim to brim checks.

Meh easy. The bangernomics 1.2L Micra I had never dropped below 30mpg and got bounced off the rev limiter in 1st 2nd and 3rd daily.

Loads of fun to drive until it, erm, fell apart. biggrin

Op didn't say anything about fast, just fun...

I believe the BMW M135 and M235 return a reasonable MPG figure, all things considered? My Clio 200 Cup is crap on juice when pressing on in comparison and it's only. 2.0, how times have changed.

Driven hard 20's is more like it, when pootling along the 8 speed G'Box means it can get about 35.

Probably something small, naturally aspirated is your best bet, anything blown is crap when it comes to pressing on, mpg wise.

Sportka, Fiesta Zetec S(1.6) Celica VVTLi that sort of thing might do it at a push, but there's very little modern cars on the market that will do it.

It's pretty difficult to get my Elise below 30mpg on the road once it's up to temperature. I've never managed under 30mpg from a tank except when the lambda sensor failed. I guess extracting its performance more from lack of weight than from high power helps quite a lot.

The wife's Octavia, by contrast, is easily capable of going below 15mpg on the road.

Would need to be small and light with limited power to stand a chance I would guess.

Browsing on Spritmonitor.de I noted that many Fiat Barchettas listed there get very good figures and I would guess at least some of those are driven in a spirited manner?

My Clio Trophy gets 30mpg driven pretty hard. 40mpg if pootling everywhere. I've tended to get 33-34mpg in mixed use.

If you're driving it 'hard' and you're still getting thirty, I'd suggest you're not driving it hard enough.

Think the worst I've ever seen was not, surprisingly, the GTA (though that was pretty poor when 'pressing on') but an astonishing 4 (yes, four) mpg in the GT-R on a trackday biggrinbiggrinbiggrin oh, and a full set of new boots too, but good golly it was fun!

Only one I have personal experience of is a Smart Roadster - 50mpg+ on a run no matter how it's driven - including sports starts smile

Steady 70mph cruise to Scotland got 63mpg once, even with roof off and windows down (hottest day of the year) using CC.

My VX220 gets 30mpg without trying. A K series Elise or Caterham is even better, people claim to get 40mpg in normal driving!
