Where are you and how much can you afford?

I'm in London.
I have no idea how much this may cost, and what kind of case I have.
What I can afford is minimal as I am now out of a job, have a 6 month pregnant wife and don't have tens of thousands in savings.

What I want to find out is, if I have a case which could be determined (I imagine) in one session, which I'd be happy to pay for.

If I have a case it's due to the very short time between being alerted to an issue and finding myself out on my ear (1 week), despite the fact that the business is small, and open ie my boss knew the exact situation day to day.

I can't waste thousands on a legal case, but I would like advice as to how to handle a "handover meeting" next week, so see if I can increase my pay off, which at the moment is one month notice.
