People at the checkouts on their phone without even acknowledging the person on the till....second on my hate list behind chucking Mcds/KFC out of the car window.

Hashtag abuse is also high on my list of annoyance, there is a person on my FB who is only still there because his pathetic attempts to get a date, become less socially awkward and be happy are actually most amusing. He fking hashtags everything and doesn't get that no on cares. In tribute to him i will post his normal relationship cycle in the form of #hashtags

They are two of my pet hates too, in our local Post office they have a handwritten sign on the screen telling people not to do it!
I'm one of those rare people who knows where the off button is and uses it, usually at about 7pm, fk anyone else, I've been at your beck n call all day, this is my time to spend with loved ones.

I was in Tesco some time ago, a chavmum was stood in the aisle yacking on her 'phone, shopping bags hung from pram handles, kid stood up in pram.
Pram falls over, kid falls out and rolls on floor crying, Chav carries on with call and tries to put kid back in pram and set it upright with one hand and fails.
Carries on chatting (probably to Jeremy Kyle).
A few people are stood watching, one of which walks over, picks pram up, picks kid up, dusts it off and puts it into pram.

Chav carries on with phone call....

I've recently joined a walking club to get me out and about, meeting different people, get some exercise etc. The amount of people in the group wandering around in the Countryside looking at their phone screens, texting etc is tragic, you're supposed to be doing the opposite! I felt quite sad when I saw an ad on TV for something (I know not what) with a scene of a Dad and his kids sat in the entrance of the tent in the middle of some beautiful countryside crouched around some mobile device instead of a frying pan with some breakfast in it....

Maybe I'm looking back to the past with my RT glasses and misplaced fondness, but I remember a time when if you worked out and about and not in an office, you were gone for the day and it was difficult for you to be contacted. The same went for holidays abroad, you were forced to do things like talk to new people, get out and have new experiences, work things out for yourself, not sit around texting your m8s.
That feeling of freedom and liberation was something a lot of people have forgotten or will never have the chance to experience.
It was a fantastic feeling.

Plus the small shop owners gabbing on their phones whilst thrusting a hand out for your cash.

Maybe it's me but I hate talking on a phone. I'll email/text but talking is for when you are face to face (Unless you are miles away and not gonna see that person for a while).

My ex wife constantly gabs on her phone. Her work conversations take 10 to 15 mins to say the same thing that I could do in a sentence. She would be on her phone in the car whilst I was driving, talking to the person that we were going to see and stay with for the weekend.

Grrrrrr really feks me off biggrin

Yes it's just you.
Well and me too. wink
That's women for you. I remember one years ago who texted me 'I'm in the car wash'. Uh yeah, whatever...

I've got a really good friend who I only really ring to ask if it's ok to go round and see him for a chat. I've taken to making even shorter calls to him too as his phone is faulty and he won't get it fixed, it's got an echo on it - there is nothing worse than hearing the sound of your own voice repeated back to you at every pause!

Not so much mobiles, ie to make calls, but specifically smart phones and tablets. I'm all for technology, but a pet hate is seeing families at a restaurant where mam and dad are on facebook or texting, teenage sprog is busy tw@tting, younger sprog is playing on their DS. No conversation, no interaction, no banter, nothing.

Put them ALL away, talk, enjoy your meal as a family made up of 4 humans and not as 4 I.P addresses.

This is something that has been playing on my mind quite a bit lately, and I've been thinking about getting a retro phone and dumping the smart phone. The only thing I think I will miss is a good camera.

Any suggestions on a older phone but still has a good camera?

Said this a few times now but I miss some of the simpler times we had and that includes phones. If you were intending to meet someone at the weekend you would call on a landline a week or so before, have a catch-up and arrange to meet at whatever time it is. The day would come and both of you would manage to be there on time without the need for 5 second updates on your whereabouts. In fact you wouldn’t even converse again until the arranged time of meeting up. Now it’s all:

“Are we still meeting up tomorrow”
“Yes, 10:30”
“ok c u then”

Tomorrow comes

“Are we still meeting up today”
“yeh 10:30”
“oh cud we make it 11”
“sure ill text again wen settin off”
“ok”
“settin off now”
“are u here yet”
“nearly there”

Etc etc. all for ONE get together. Then the rest of the day will be spent checking in, sharing pictures/selfies (ick) etc. on ArseFace and Tw@tter...

I’m a luddite I think…

You're not doing it right!!!

I've got a Nokia 106 which is a modern basic phone with no camera. £9 on Tesco mobile PAYG and £20 credit gets tripled to £60 for free every month and loads of free texts (hardly any of which I use I hasten to add).

Yep definitely a Luddite paperbag
