Hi all! Anyone who is also on Locostbuilders may have seen my thread there - apologies for repitition!

My looooong build seemed to finally be making progress. I went to trial fit the calipers to the cortina uprights - all purchased a number of years ago, reconditioned. The caliper would not fit!!! As the caliper looked strange, I first suspected that it was at fault, but upon investigation, it fitted on the other side, albeit upside down! I then swapped the hubs over and the problem remained on the passenger side.

Today I have measured both uprights carefully and discovered that the stub axle is bent upwards - only 0.8 of a degree more than the other side but that translates to 1/8th of an inch gap at the lower caliper mount.

So, I need options!

rally design do aluminium replacements, but these only fit the wilwood calipers so I would have to but new calipers too, which would be far too expensive!

Does anyone out there either have a spare cortina upright, or good ideas on alternatives that don't cost the earth!!,

Thanks smile

Try HiSpec, I think they do a Cortina based upright. Speak to Alex and mention Jon@Minotaur said to give them a ring smile

Hopefully they are properly designed and tested uprights that don't snap like the old Raceleda ones...

Fortunately I have managed to source a cortina original at a sensible price smile

I did find lots of Brisca sites offering steel fabricated alternatives - they must be strong if used by them - anyone ever used them on a road car?

I'd be pretty happy to go for a fabricated steel upright over an alloy one to be honest.

They are out there - but there are some ridiculous prices being asked!

I went for the various cortina club websites etc, as well as the brisca sites - there was a chap there in Devon who had a few but after initially replying to me, never followed up.
