You read up on training your new puppy alot, understanding consitant training and routine is key but your other half bloody doesnt understand this and as soon as shes home the dog ends up in the lounge where hes not allowed yet and pisses on the carpet. Feel like banging my head against a wall!!!!
I think the hardest part of raising an animal is getting the humans to do the right thing consistently.
The school I took the dog to happily reinforce the point that the lessons are there to teach the owners how to train the dog and not actually to train the dog in class, that's the homework as such.
Obviously it's bloody hard to do the right thing when all you wanna do is cuddle the squishy little thing

My dogs in disgrace. I left my Bacon, Sausage and Egg bap unaccompanied for 2 minutes while I ran the bins out. Never to be seen again.
He seems to think the disgrace is worth it.

Ours wouldn't take food from your plate but he will walk up beside you and plonk his head on your arm and look you straight in the eyes begging for food.
The only thing he'll take from the table is tissue. He loves nothing more than being chased around the house whilst you try and get tissue from his mouth. Silly sod.
Not saying this is right, but;
When I was growing up we had 2 dogs, henry, a lab, and jesse, a GSD.
My dad said the same thing with both dogs;
"don't feed them from the table/don't let them on the sofa/don't let them on your bed/don't give them biscuits etcetc"
Us kids took no notice whatsoever, and they were both brililant dogs!

your Dad is a wise man. But it depends on how keen the Dog is to move up in the pecking order.When I was growing up we had 2 dogs, henry, a lab, and jesse, a GSD.

This is how both our dogs are treated, they're both (reasonably!) well behaved & happy hounds When I was growing up we had 2 dogs, henry, a lab, and jesse, a GSD.
