Free virtual pint offered to the poster who comes up with the most ingenious/sneaky was of getting rid of these little pests.......

Several years ago, I fixed a notice saying "Please to NOT knock or ring the doorbell as there is a baby asleep upstairs"

This worked fine for several hours until some smart Alec pointed out I lived in a bungalow.....

When I get home from work tomorrow I just won't turn any lights on in the house. I will close the blinds so the light from the TV can't be seen through the front window and that should do the trick smile Not very inventive I'm afraid but it always seems to work.

I go with:

Answering the door, offering a bowl of Cadburys Minis and then saying "Have fun!" and closing the door.

or

Leave bowl of chocs outside with a note saying "Baby asleep please don't ring bell"

The above both work if you live in a nice area. If you live somewhere where your trick or treaters are taller than you and arrive on a moped then it's time to consider moving.

Alternatively just leave an empty bowl outside with a sign saying "help yourself to the sweets."

A couple on R2 this morning - chap phoned in to say he was up early to wrap brussels sprouts in old Ferrero Rocher wrappers, and my favourite - the Toffee Onion.

B0llocks. We spend all year telling our kids not to interact with strangers and then one day a year we let them go off and demand money with menaces from old people.

Yeah, nothing like a dose of spite to a 6 year old to warm the cockles.

I mixed Durian sweets from Thailand in with the other more usual fare one year. It's a sort of Halloween Russian roulette biggrin
