There's a Diesel ST, since when?
Since now - 182 PS diesel version was announced for the facelift. And why not? No one knocks the Golf GTD which seems more popular than the petrol version and the Mondeo ST TDCI was popular and a good looking car to boot. There Seems to be an awful lot of anti Ford snobbery on Pistonheads these days. I have only seen about 3 Golf GTIs, quite a few more focus STs, yet no one says the GTI has been a flop. Appearance wise it looks much sharper than the outgoing version
In ST3 spec, value for money wise, I personally think you can't beat a Ford.
Interesting the diesel and petrol cost the same, I do roughly 80miles every second day but I couldn't see myself ordering a diesel version though.
Are these on sale now or earlier next year?

Not officially launched until beginning of next year, but you can order one now. However the consumer offers haven't been announced yet, so you wouldn't really know what it'd be costing you yet In ST3 spec, value for money wise, I personally think you can't beat a Ford.

Left me a bit miffed! I settled for a 1.6 Titanium - I thought about the ST but as I do 30-40k/year I just couldn't justify it as a car for work. TDCI powered ST would have been just the ticket personally.
No, never going to set the world alight, but for someone like me who spends 99% of my time on the motorway driving for work diesel economy is the priority but that little bit of shove/handling for when the chance arises would have been perfect.

I'm a terrible ditherer when it comes to cars. One minute I'll be planning to restore a written off TVR and the next I'll be looking for a diesel estate. This Focus has finally made my mind up. Great spec for the money, will handle really well with great steering and a slick gearbox and can still carry five adults when I need it too. And the icing on the cake? It's available in a bright colour. As soon as they hit the showrooms I'll be ordering a fully loaded ST3 in Tangerine "poo to you with knobs on you boring Germans' scream orange. So there.

I do like the new grey colour but does it still have that unsightly gap between the bonnet and front bumper?
No, we resolved that. The new ST is a fantastic looking thing. It looks even better in the flesh than the press photos. Very angular and muscular. And even faster now.
My ST-2 is 2 years old now and I'm really happy with it. When I bought it I never considered a Golf. I test drove an R32 a few years previously and I wasn't impressed. My other experience with VAG products was my Leon Cupra TDi. I ran that for 4 years and I really did begin to hate it in the end.
I quite like the fact there isn't too many around and I enjoy being in something different.
