Hi all,

I need to pay a supplier via Western Union. Is there a way I can do this online without having to go in to a branch? The website seems to only accept GBP to CNY, but I need to send USD to CNY.

Thanks,

Simon

As CNY is the international abbreviation for 'Chinese Yuan' I can't see what the problem is as surely it doesn't matter what currency you use to buy the Yuans?

Anyway if I try the various combinations of options on the Western Union site it seems you can transfer USD to China if you do a bank account to bank account transfer. This is without my creating an account or signing in. Presumably this is as they have to charge two lots of fees to convert your GBP to dollars first then again to CNY.

BUT

Please take care. The Western Union Terms and Conditions says they strongly advise you not to use their service to send money to someone you don't know.

Before you go ahead make sure you read and understand all the Terms and Conditions on their website. Only send as much money as you can afford to lose. It's really not very safe, there are no comebacks if the trader takes your cash and doesn't send you anything in return.

Most gurus that talk about China Trading would strongly advise you not to deal with someone who wants to use Western Union as a money transfer method on a first sample/test buying transaction.
