Hi,
I'm approaching that time where a change of car is going to happen.
E90 M3 is one option, as is the C63, as is the Panamera.
Does anyone have any info on reliability of the DCT transmission and likely life expectancy for the DCT transmission? I know it won't be cheap if it breaks, but would be good to know how long these units are likely to last before hitting problems.

DCT based on all accounts seems to have great reliability with very low failure rates. Clutches are meant to last lifetime of vehicle, apparently the dual clutch plates and electronic shifting significantly reduce clutch wear compared to a manual.
You should try DCT out though, its hard to describe but it's not like a manual or automatic car .. I got a DCT as my wife couldn't drive manual and it's handy for heavy traffic.

As said above already best auto I have owned. I like the way you don't have to sit on the brakes in traffic like normal autos. The speed it can change gear whilst offering you the ability to adjust how hard or smooth it engages at the flick or a switch is also nice to have and brings it closer to being a manual.
