GSXR 750 K8 too much to early?
Discussion
Hi all.
I am considering selling my 2013 ER6N and buying a K8 GSXR 750. I have covered 5000 miles on the kwak and have loved it however after attending a few track sessions I am wanting to step things up. Originally I was looking at K8 600's however a friend said I may as well buy the 750 because it has more torque down low and a better spread of power. You could say that is good advice however I have only been riding for on the ER6 for 10 months. It is my first big bike. My first two years of riding where on geared 125's. On track I was wanting a more powerful and sharp bike however on the road not really. On the road the kwak is ok and I have never really wanted more. Is the 750 too much?

Did you think the ER6 was too much before buying that? Get it and take it easy until you get used to the extra gruntI am considering selling my 2013 ER6N and buying a K8 GSXR 750. I think you should get the 600. Eventually you'll wish you'd got the 750 but that's the point . It gets you get used to it. With the 600 you have wring its neck more to go fast ie you'll know when you're doing it. With the 750 you could be more likely to wheelspin in the damp inadvertently; potential to travel faster than you realise etc.
I have a gsxr1000k8 btw so have some relevant knowledge (opinion).

Good advice, but I think he should just get the 750 and not be daft. Hell, you can easily spin a 600 in the wet without trying.I have a gsxr1000k8 btw so have some relevant knowledge (opinion).

This is the reason I'd say to get the 750.I have a K7 750 and it's a doddle to ride, with power nice and low that you can make progress without having to rev the tits off it. Of course it still have the bansai part in the higher revs, but you don't have to go there to make decent progress.
I'd say go for it, I've got a GSXR 750 L0 (2010 model same as K8) and I think it's a great bike.
It's very forgiving, and its a good tool on the track too. Mine is just over 150bhp but sometimes I wish I had the 1000 for the extra torque.
You will get used to it quickly enough but I see it as a great first big bike.
Do it, you won't regret it.

I did almost exactly the same thing. I had an er6 (albeit the F version) and after 8 months chopped it in for a K8 600. It isn't a massive step up if you take your time. After another 13 months I chopped it in for a L4 750. There is extra ooomph but it is by no means uncontrollable and is if anything easier to ride than the 600 as you don't get that peaky powerband, it's a much more even spread. As has been said test both but I don't think a 750 would cause you any dramas.
I passed my test at the end of July and my first bike was a CBR600RR, Which I kept for a couple of months, I now have a Fireblade, which is as easy to ride as the XJ6 I passed my test on. As long as you don't go mad, they will do the same speed as any other bike! I wish I had got the 1 litre bike when I had passed, best get the bike you ultimately want and save money and time in the process.
I haven't managed over, half throttle and 9000 rpm yet though!
