As title says really. I took it out today and had difficulty selecting first second and third gears. It eased as the car warmed up but still didnt feel right. I am no mechanic so any ideas please? Thank you in advance biggrin

Did the clutch pedal feel normal? I'm going for a random guess of fluid loss with the limited information biggrin

Worn clutch would be slipping, if it was the linkage it would be something like 1st 3rd and 5th and would click or feel stiff.. Not getting it into gear is normally lack of movement on the clutch fork, fluid or something else..

Have a look on the floor behind the drivers side wheel and inside the car underneath the peddles to see if there's any oil leaking. Checking the fluid level is bit of a bh on these, you need to look underneath this hatch that is on the drivers side wing under the bonnet.

There should be only one hatch that looks like that, it's next to the brake fluid reservoir. It will be screwed and stuck down, cut around the edges with a knife and stick it back down with silicone afterwards or rainwater will get into the car through there.

Looks like this underneath the hatch..

All done and it is much better now. I have been told it will be the slave cylinder leaking and should change it soon.I am taking it down to St Ives on Thursday so fingers crossed it doesnt let me down. biggrin

Changing the slave cylinder is a pig of a job though. Be gentle with the clutch and it should be fine, check that it's not all leaking into the footwell though as it'll ruin your carpets.

There is nothing in the footwell. It was bone dry

Good question. I will ask. The reservoir was low though Paul it needed about 3 capsfull.

I think you're referring to the clutch reservoir - gearbox oil change cured my clunky changes on my SEAC earlier this year...

Update. I drove the car for five minutes and the clutch just didnt feel right so phoned my mate and he says it sounds like air in the system so do not drive it to St Ives. Took the chuffing van instead frown.
