Evening all, I havn't been all that active on forums recently.
I'm a PH 'old timer' if you will, some may recognise the username and relate to the sideways teenager of a few years ago hehe

So about a year and half ago I took my love of travelling sideways abit further in purchasing a 'drift car' (E36 325i)

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=8&a...

Got used to it and abused the hell out of it, learnt with relatively little power so it was time for a step up.....

After alot searching I bought an E34 540i which is upto regulations to current British Drift Championship regs....
Drifted it numerous times and loved it, really bonded with the car....

Took it to SantaPod DWYB a few times...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlWEccEeu9A

Then to Lydden hill various times....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlOED7m6rWY

I always said from the start I would never compete as it isn't something that interests me however a mate talked me into attending round 2 of the Drift Cup UK series which was held at Teesside Autodrome (5.5 hour drive)....
I was running in Street Class, managed to qualify 3rd having never previously driven the circuit, I then went on to take 3rd in the street class. I was over the moon !!! First ever competition and came out with a trophy.

Qualifying :

Semi Final battle, didn't get any other further battles on video....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLOngiXp1O4

So off the back of that I decided to attend round3 at Lydden Hill but this time round in the higher class of Cup Class with competition non road legal cars as I missed out on Street Class tickets. Not expecting much at all I went out in a very very moist practice...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmklyaL2GDM&lis...

Onto Qualifying, Street class qualifying was pure wet, our qualifying run time it decided to dry up very quickly in parts but remain wet in others, this made for a rather challenging drive so after my 3 runs were complete I knew I could have done better... so off we went into the briefing room and wait to hear the qualifying results, I couldn't beleive it, managed 7th place, which is a major surprise as I barely expected to make the top 16 with the class of drivers I was up against.

So on to the battles well, I went all the way to the top and won Cup class, couldn't beleive it.... Here's the final battle ....

That concluded the remainder of the Drift Cup season, with all of the serious drifting out the way it was time to let the cars hair down, it was time to drive 5 hours to Anglesey Circuit in Wales and tear it up !
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9z-kGz81CU&lis...

Drifting in 4th gear at 100mph on a circuit that hosts possible 2 drift events a year was unreal !

I'll try and keep the thread updated with progress and jobs on the car.

That is awesome! Keep toying with the idea of a second car, for drifting.

This is fantastic! Very impressive work behind the wheel, and the noise, oh man.. cloud9

Beats any turbo Jap without any question. Brilliant. Let's see some photos of the car, too!

My favourite bit of the interior is the original gearknob put back on.

I'm thinking an E36 323/325 would be best for drifting for me. I need a car that's cheap, RWD and a bit snotty so I can leave it anywhere. I guess the 4cyl E36s won't have enough power?

Outrageous!! You've ruined a rare car!

Still, means mine will go up in value. thumbup

Good work, Jack. I still need to have a look (and a good listen) to yours when I get the chance.

"Cringe", are you 16 years old and find the word dude cool to say aswell ?
On the subject of cringe, slightly odd you seem to have nothing better to do than post on a forum at 8pm on a Friday night.
Must be living life.

Anyway, thanks for positive comments guys, I will get some pics up of the car today.

Yeah properly sad me, finding myself at work on a Friday night rather than being down the local boozer. Nice to see the opinion you have of all the other people online on a Friday night mind.

I suppose I could've and should've also said that I was actually impressed with your driving.

Noise of that V8 + watching you do that like it's second nature > killing a rare car.

Good skills, sounds awesome, nice to see something that's not a 318i 'stripped an wiv a hydro innit' as a 'drift' car... this is the real deal, and all the better for it!

It's the way they keep missing but are so desperate to touch hands that they keep searching around that makes me laugh.
