A Drag Racing book for $400 - wtf ?
Discussion
I was looking for Drag Racing books and found this :
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=1880652587/...
The only description I found was this :
This book contains everything you always wanted to know about Top Fuel, but didn’t know who to ask.
Chris Martin wrote for National Dragster for 20 years and is an acknowledged historian of drag racing.
(If Chris doesn’t know the answer, then you really don’t need to either.)
Does anyone here have looked into this, read it, or have a copy ?
Ebay offers one for $130, not too bad considering it was $9.95 in 1996
Oh well, I guess I have to wait for the Haynes Manual in my postbox after winning it on eurodragster.com......8-)

Chris Martin was indeed a National Dragster staffer for many years and a noted expert on the nitro side of things. He was fired in the 1990s at that time when NHRA was firing most of its older hands. He subsequently joined DragRacingOnline.com where, I think, he is still listed posthumously. He was noted for his alleged enjoyment of an alternative lifestyle and, in the manner of Charlie Parker, "died of everything" several years ago.
I chatted to him once, just over 30 years ago, and the topics covered centred on Frank Bruno and Chris's sister's recent spell living in Luton. Ah, such memories. A very friendly chap.
