I don't think he can ever develop a bigger physicial stature and will always be fairly easy to knock over. T

"He's one of the strongest players I've ever known - that's what people find remarkable. I don't think he's got bones in his body, it's like he's made of steel. He has an incredible physique for a young guy.

He is 20 years old ffs - look what he is doing now and think back to many of the current best and see what they were doing at 20 - things like finishing, improving final ball will come with age - - how much has he improved since he was 18 to where he is now -= madness to be happy to sell him for 30m
Have to agree madness to accept £30m.

can I ask Type R, do you watch the guy play? For a small player his on the ball strength has greatly improve? Remember him shoving Toure around against City earlier this season?

So let's take that £30m, how do you find a replacement? Yes Ibe may turn out to be a better player, but at the moment Sterling is 2-3 years ahead of him.

Its a while since we had a player like Sterling, who most fans of other would give their back teeth to have in their side,

And what if he doesn't sign a new contract? £30m is an arbitrary figure anyhow. At the end of the season he will only have 18-months left on his contract - so I would say that values him closer to £30m than it does £45m. If Sterling isn't going to sign a new contract, I would definitely take the "£30m".

As I said, I am not saying Sterling isn't a decent player. I've mentioned his attributes above. It's just think that I think Ibe could be better player in the longer term.

What makes you think that ? We have hardly seen him play. Especially not at the level Sterling has played.

I dont believe there is any issues with his contract tbh - its simply negotiating which any reps do - issue is its because its Sterling so press like to make more of it

We offer x - they say no we want x - somewhere in the middle we agree - BR Has said sterling is more than happy and wants to sign - we just need to come to an agreement that all are happy with. For me its not a story

If Liverpool want to be a club who challenge we need to keep a hold of players like Sterling, not sell for 35/40m any talk of that is madness and as fans we should all count our lucky stars we have a player like this in our team - The problem is the fans and the media expecting so much from him - he is 20, just because he is doing so well now and getting in our team does not mean he is the finished article - he will only get better which really for where he is now is frightening.

Totally agree - by 16 Sterling was in our 1st team

Yes Ibe has potential but Sterling was well ahead of him at the same age.

The danger is playing him too much now - we did the same with Owen, early in his career. Despite Houllier saying he had to be protected at a young age - he was over played and got injured a lot. We should be ensuring the same doesn't happen with Sterling.

As BR apparently has been quoted as saying Sterling has steel inside him instead of bones, I think that particular wish might be a lost cause! smile

Not sure about that - think that's more to do with the player than over playing

Look at Giggs - he was played just as much as Owen - I have read before its more mental pressure than physical for a young player which you need to watch.

The thing people forget about Giggs is he was fked for a good while in his career, injury after injury, it was only when we allowed him to do his own training plan, plenty of yoga and played him periodically that he was better. Remember the tights he used to play in to protect his hamstrings?

Indeed - the thing with younger players was not to over play them while they were still "growing" (I assume this means bones density and muscle structure, rather than height wise). I would think its more a problem now with the game being still faster and more physical than even in Owen's time.

Hmmm not sure about Palace, we have had more than our share of bumpy rides against them in the last couple of seasons, however we missed Arsenal which is a good thing

All about Sturridge for me and keeping hold of Lucas. Get Sturridge back and firing and just keep hold of Lucas and not try and shoehorn Allen back in the team. Do this and we'll beat both Bolton and Palace away.

Lucas is going know where until the summer, and hopefully nowhere then.

Have to agree with Paul Tomkins, around 60% of transfers don't work out, so selling players like Agger, Renia & Lucas, huge risk as 60% chance your replacement won't work out! I not saying you never move anyone on, but clearly those 3 players still offered something, Agger is near on the perfect centre back for a back 3. Pep is clearly a better keeper than anything we have now, and well Can may one day be able to replace Lucas, but that role takes years to learn, and right now Lucas is on the best at it and will be for next 2-3 years at least.

Totally.
DS coming back and staying fit is crucial now.
Squad rotation should be kept at a minimum and only done in conjunction with injuries rather than for sts and giggles.
Lucas, although we have all had it in for him at some point needs to be kept full stop, he is one of the only senior members of the squad even at his age so needs to stay, if we can and it is not him himself that wants to leave then we need to do what we have to do.

I'd say the game is less physical now than 10 years ago...I think the game is faster though.

Well it looks very much like we aren't buying anyone, so I guess Lucas will be staying put, at least for now.
