Well at least we've knackered the Chelsea players for their game against City on Saturday...

No disgrace tonight. Apart from not having finishers. But we played well otherwise.

As good as he was tonight, I'd have given it to Hazard, I think.

Thought we played pretty well over both legs, especially the second half of leg 1 which had glimmers of last season.

Mario and Johnson arm fault for the goal - both are annoyingly bad.

And poor finishing again let us down, how did Hendo miss theat header FFS

But these were deficiencies we knew about before, and hopefully BR can (privately) see too

The only silver lining I can offer you is that both will be gone at the end of the season. And that will strengthen us without even signing a player.

The correct subs were Lala and Lambo not Balo under any circumstances, Balo coming on changed the dynamic of the team and we lost our mojo to a degree.
Bren is still learning and once again when the pressure is on he makes the wrong decisions, his team however played above themselves and I am proud that a our striker less team of newbies ran the champions elect so close home and away.

Johnson is getting a 3 year deal, and Mario wont go anywhere without costing us an arm & a leg first,

Ive said it all year, if we dont finish top 4 and bring some silverware home by the end of the season brendan needs to go.

I'm not sure why anyone in their right mind would bring on Balotelli in a game like this. Particularly a Balotelli that has hardly kicked a ball in months. Yet again I'm forced to think that our manager made a decision that if had gone right he would have enjoyed the attention. If not for Balotelli we matched them throughout the 2 games.

If Borini, Lambert and Mario never played for us again we wouldn't be any worse off.

As a positive I thought Mignolet had the best game he's had for us in a long time.

If Balo had scored the winner BR would have been a hero.. And so say all of us.. Such a fine line between hero or failure.. Over the two legs Rogers has restored a lot of faith in a very short time.. He has never lost the dressing room thats for sure even at his darkest time.. Keep the faith and I believe he will deliver.

^^^^^ this. So far this half of the season is showing a lot of promise. Still a player or two short but I believe that BR will deliver given time and resources. Even his so called flops this season are starting to show promise. Mario I believe was forced onto him by the TC and if it had worked we would be singing their praises right now. Ricky and Borini were never meant to be first choice strikers

He didn't have to pick Mario which effectively dropped us to 10 men and game over, why doesn't this upset people like it upsets me. He picked the wrong subs despite knowing his best team inside out, it's as if Marios mum has put him on a promise. Marios one shot skyed over the stand was embarrassing in a high level game.

Thats the point really DS. BR put on Mario so that if it had worked, he'd have looked a genius. It had nothing to do with what we needed on the pitch at the time.

As for the other stuff that BR will succeed given more time and more money. I clearly have a different opinion, I see a manager who when it matters the most, makes the wrong decision. At best this is through inexperience, at worst this is about his ego. I think of not just yesterday but the Chelsea game last season.

Agree Balo is toast, there was a moment when he just come on, sterling had the ball, and was faced with chelsea back line, Balo should have run into space, he'd have made a pass on for Sterling or taken a defender away with him, thus creating a gap. he just walked towards goal, sterling got tackled as he had no options. You could see it later with SG reaction to when Balo should have taken one of his balls. the lad just isn't at the races and can't play in this type of set up. Our style of play is based on movement and pace, and Balo doesn't move. You move into space to be ready for the ball or to pull a defender out of the way. He seems to be able to do neither.

Lallana & Lambert would have been much better options, at least lambert moves and wants the ball, Balo looks like he can't be arsed.

I also have to give credit to our goalie, he seems to be finding some form and i thought he was brilliant last night. He looked more like the keeper we signed and not a complete liability. Hopefully sahko isn't badly injured, as although he can't pass he can tackle and adds pace and phyical presence the back line.

oh and i'll ask again, Glen Johnson, what is the point of him?

have to defend BR, the one difference between him and other managers we have had, is he does seem to learn. he is still a very young coach, and worth pointing out even your hero Rafa made barmy subs and selections at time, all managers do that.

We don't see training or the progress Balo may have made there, we just see on the pitch. I agree he shouldn't have been brought on last night, see my post above and with DS back i reckon that might be his last appearance for a while.

Lambert done ok, he was never meant to be a plan a striker, he was brought to replace Aspas and give us a different option if sides try and do a chelsea on us and park the bus.

he didn't really have any options to bring on again Chelsea last year, i'll say it again, we didn't win the title as our squad was too small, Moses off the bench was really his only attaching option. Blame him, the owners etc for that if you must, but that isn't all BR fault.

My annoyance with Mario is that even coming on late with fresh legs he didn't look like he was making any kind of effort against tired opposition. If you are putting on a Liverpool shirt we all expect you to at least put 100% in even if you don't play particularly well. Failure to do so is unforgivable.

Agree with all of that.

Balo is just completely static. When the ball does come to him then he can look good. I thought he made a couple of very creative flicks last night and also beat a few players. However it's not good enough and the team looks broken with him in it.
