Just about to order one of these but I can't decide which to go for. Engine wise It'll be the 275 as the 320 is £5K more and a fair bit more thirsty. Unless anyone thinks I should go for the 320?

I'd appreciate thoughts?

I currently have a Range Rover but want something a bit more dynamic.

thanks

If you're really looking for dynamism then go for the higher output, it is amazing. Bought my wife an SQ5 a few months ago, good car but the power plant is the star of the show, very refined and just pulls you towards the horizon, it is a hoot. We're getting between 35-40 mpg after a couple of thousand miles and I'm told they improve with age.

Bizarrely I am in the same position as the OP

Have discounted the A6 avant in preference for the Allroad ride height and air suspension.

To me the 313PS is THE reason to do it. The engine is amazingly flexible and pulls at all speeds. The 245 now 273 feels unresponsive and intrusive in comparison.

I was contemplating the SQ5 but for me the boot is just that little bit too small and am reluctant to lunch 40k on a design that is now 5 years old with only minor tweaks.

I would strongly suggest doing a direct comparison with 273 and the 313 ..... Clearly yourr head will say save the cash but once you have felf the 313 and its delivery you will want it no questions asked

biased but the allroad is the better car,it rides better because of the air suspension.

I did actually try the 245 and the 305?twin turbo and to be honest I didn't think they felt that different

From personal experience I have owned & run both a stnd A6 & now an Allroad. They may be the previous generation to the one you are considering, however, the principal is the same.

The only real criticism with the stnd A6 avant esp Sport was the ride being too firm, sporty yes, okay handling for a car nearly 2 tons but uncessarily harsh. I was adamant to change to something different, however, Audi wins hands down on several fronts. The way this was addressed was through the Allroad, all the benefits none of the disadavnatges.

Dynamic mode lowers the ride height, remains comfortable and provides nice handling. Comfort and Auto soften the dampers but they don't become squishy or rolly poly and ride at the medium height level. The Allroad also has two further ride heights for rough offroad surfaces.

Consider potential costs for more complicated suspension airbags, compressor etc. Overall the Allroad is almost the complete package with stealth and more room than Q variants (which some people like) and they can look stealthy with colour coding, careful wheel choice etc & no longer have the obvious tractor traits the C5 suffered with.

Well I am now the owner of a MY2014 A6 Allroad 3.0 Tdi 245ps with lots of toys and its a great drive.

It has lots of go when you need it and can waft around too.

One ting I dont het it the front parking sensors. In my previous car the front sensors where always active so if you drove up too close to anything they went off. however it seems that in the A6 they are not always active and need to be activated by the button on the dash.

is this correct or is there a way of keeping the front sensors active so I can pull into a parking soace or my drive without the need to turn them on manually ?

Cheers

good choice, cant help on your query as mine is the previous generation so I dont have that ,but I would have thought there must be a way to set it up in the menus so they are active all of the time.

No-one has mentioned it yet, but the Allroad looks fantastic next to the A6.

Great choice.

Pics please.
