Hi Guys.

I have a BMW with CIC Professional navigation, and it doesn't allow the custom upload of POIs with POI warnings (unlike the Mercedes I used to have). I wish to get speed camera alerts in my car somehow, so after a lot of reading around, I have two options;

1) Buy a TomTom or Garmin navigation system and load speed cameras on to it using PocketGPSWorld

2) Buy a Snooper Lynx GPS Speed camera alerting device, which is locked onto their own AURA database.

Cost is not an issue at all, as I want maximum effectiveness. I have read that RADAR detectors are not effective due to many false alarms, and that by the time that a LIDAR/LASER detector picks up a signal, its already too late - So I'm not really looking into these systems (from the looks of it, they seem to be more of an American thing whereas GPS systems seem to suit the UK better?!)

So I guess overall it comes down to a competition between the two databases, AURA and PocketGPSWorld - Which one is better?

Thanks
Sunny

I can't comment on the AURA as I have never used it - but I find the PocketGPSWorld accurate.

You can't use PocketGPSWorld on the latest generation of TomToms (GO x0/x00/x000) - so you'd be looking at a Garmin or older TomTom if you can get one (which is what I use PocketGPSWorld on)

Another option is PocketGPSWorld do smart phone Apps (both iOS and android
