Firstly,

A big hello to the Aston Martin forum memberssmile I've been a longtime lurker on the PH forums and have always learnt a huge amount, most recently helping me with my first purchase of a V8 Vantage (details below, pics to follow!) The information and expertise on here have been absolutely invaluable in aiding my purchase - I almost bought a 911 997 Gen 2 pdk instead, but definitely feel as though I've made the right decision, even though I still haven't collected the car!

Car spec -

2006 55 plate V8 Vantage 4.3 Manual
41,000 miles
Mercury Silver
Heated seats
Sat nav
Heated front screen
HID headlights
Premium audio
Cruise control

I will be collecting the car in a couple of weeks, after a few bits and pieces are taken care of (service MOT etc). I am also making some cosmetic changes to the car, such as alcantara steering wheel, centre console armrest, gear knob and gaiter, private plate....

I've already had the fuse 22 removed and now I have to make a decision on exhausts. The SuperSport PLUS is an instant no, far too loud to live with as a daily drive. It then comes down to the SuperSport or Sport exhaust. This is purely a fun/noise mod for me - manifolds, Cats, twin plate clutch & lighter flywheel etc may come in the future, although possibly with a return to the OEM back box. I am fairly keen on the Bamford Rose exhaust switch mod too, though.

So my questions, if anyone can help, are as follows confused -

1. Does anyone have the QS Sport exhaust on their car, with no other mods (Cats etc)? Did it make any difference to the sound compared to the OEm exhaust?
2. Will BR fit the exhaust switch onto any car (even one they haven't done other work on), and how much does it cost roughly?

3. Most importantly, having spent hours trawling YouTube for videos, is there anyone in the West London/ home counties area with a QS SuperSport exhaust fitted to their otherwise standard 4.3 car that I could pay a little visit to, to actually hear the sound for real!!?? driving

This last one would make a huge difference to me, I could then make a decision regarding the SuperSport exhaust that will hopefully not annoy my neighbours/ annoy me after a few hours with it. (The YouTube videos vary from sounding great, to far too loud!)

Many thanks for any help, looking forward to finally getting the car and enjoying it! And to learning more through this forum.

Cheers,

burnout3

I have the QS Supersports. Don't fit it if you don't want to annoy the neighbours. Its loud!. As for me I love it and so do my neighbours as they are petrolheads on the quiet.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome. That really is top lurking: 1 post in nearly 10 years! Does that mean we have to wait another 10 years for the photos?

Thanks! I was quite impressed with myself there too, when I saw 110months! Photos might be slightly quicker...100months?

ps - have already bought the Aston Martin guide too, awesome purchase.

Welcome and congratulations on the new car. The 911 is also a compelling car, but you can't beat burbling along in a V8 smile

You could try Nicholas Mee (kind of Chiswick, Ravenscourt Park) - they're the official importer I think of QS exhausts in the UK - and see if they have a car in for servicing/sale at the moment with a Supersport on.

Put one on my Db9, its not subtle, but I love it smile

Welcome

QS Supersport Plus will make your ears bleed frown the none plus is very loud as it is!
For similar money I'd look at sport cats & headers, you will get a nicer noise AND more ponies
(I'm sure BR would thrown in an FOC exhaust switch with this sort of package wink )

I have QS Sports exhaust in my garage. Only did about 3000 miles on a friends car. I was going to fit it to mine, but then had BR manifolds and 200 cell cats fitted so have stuck with standard backbox. If you are interested I am sure a deal can be done wink

Thanks for all the nice welcome messages!

downr - good point about Nicholas Mee, I'll give them a ring to see if they have any in with Sport/ SuperSports exhausts on, cheers! But also, if anyone else has one and is willing to let me have a listen, I'm more than happy to travel for the experiencesmile

mikey k - much as I would love the BR manifolds and sports cats, it looks like 6k all in to me, so a considerably more expensive option. Not sure I can stretch to that at this stage.... frown

Not you again.
I'll let you know that I had a fabulous head of hair until 1980.
I'd dig up a photograph and post it,,,,,,,,,,if I knew how.

I've got the quicksilver 200 cell sports cats and supersport plus backbox on my V8. If you're in London, anywhere in London, you'll have heard it already biggrin

Seriously though, it is too loud for London... there's every chance I'll get stopped driving past an embassy and have had a marker put on the car by the coppers simply for using first gear while parking in Mayfair! I think the sports cats alone would have been the more sensible option!

I thought that everyone thought the quicksilver exhausts are crap?

I was considering the quicksilver exhaust for my car. In the end I had the Bamford Rose 200 cats and the updated air box with the switch to quieten things down if required. The sound is amazing and the extra horses have really made the car feel quick. Cost was not a great deal more than just the exhaust.

I don't know about that but the combination I have is quite silly. The QS bits came with the car so I can't complain too much but I would not have chosen the backbox myself.

Congrats on the car -- they're fantastic. About exhausts, have you heard your car with the fuse out? IMO, they sound great just like that.

+1 I had this done on my V8 Coupe and was very pleased with the result, switch gives the options of noisy/quiet or factory. Would have had the bits transferred to the "S" but AM changed the exhaust system so they didn't fit. Had the switch installed though as it is very useful for those arrivals/departures in the unsociable hours.

Thanks again for all the opinions and info! I'll definitely get the switch fitted in the future, to help keep the neighbours happy.

Got an extension (and other major expenses) to plan first, so think the BR upgrade will get done in about a year, but for starters I'm going with the QS Sports exhaust (got a great deal, hopefully). The other internal changes are coming together too, so hopefully it'll be ready in about 2 weeks, fingers crossed! Then I'll be sure post the picssmile
