Well I picked up my super sprint at the weekend and dodging the showers on the 40 mile trip home I had forgotten how much fun these little go karts were.
Admittedly I didnt buy the fastest Caterham in the world but wow what a lovely sound, poping and banging threw the country lanes.... very adictive!!
But even though a spirited drive home I couldnt get the engine up to temperature, faulty gauge?
Or is this the norm,,,, as it would sit hovering half way between cold and normal..
Im a bit of a tart and wanted a heater (lived to long in Oz) im always bloody freezing... but found the heater was a bit wanting , im pretty sure if I could get the engine to run a bit hotter the it would be fine..
Should I block the front up a bit?
Thanx for any replys

I would have thought you ought to check the thermostat is opening and closing properly before blocking up the rad. take it out put it in boiling water and check it opens or just replace it if you're feeling flush, they are only a few quid.

Not cold enough yet this year but when I lived in Wales and the winter's were b...freezing, I added a roll down leathercloth blind to the grill. It was operated by a simple cord which 'dangled' by the driver.
It meant that the engine warmed up a lot more quickly but the temp. was still controllable.
There are also various thermostats that can replace the one you already have fitted which may keep the temp. up to your preference.

As far as the heater - you'll end up cold in the winter anyway.

It's fine below about 40mph, but anything faster and you're going to feel the wind. I'd recommend some wind proof clothes and a scarf!

Sounds like it could be the thermostat to me.

when stood no airflow over the rad so the temp comes up, when moving temp drops because thermostat still open.

thats the first thing i'd check and it's a two minute job on the XFlow.
