here is a good one for the naturally inquisitive!
my k series s2 has always had a noisy gearbox on the overrun, "they all do that sir," but recently iv'e noticed it to be getting worse. i almost always drive with the roof off so wind noise drowns it out most of the time. in my old age i reluctantly put the roof on for the journey home tonight and it was horrific.....on left hand bends!!!! bad on the overrun in a straight line but turning left makes it instantly worse, straightening up returns it back to merely bad! what in the name of all that is holy is that about? its only done 55k and very few track miles, none in the last 8 years. anyone have any pearls of wisdom?

Ha ha. I was actually trying to spend as little as possible to fix the problem instead of encouraging my already excessive fascination with opposite lockery! Thanks for the advice tho

Torson diff, is that an LSD? If so can you tell me where to get one for £150 please?

Just have a look on ebay. I think they were originally supplied in Rover Tomcats or something but just search for PG1 Torsen. There are two types A and B - the type B is the one you want for the Elise. The Type A can be a bit over keen I hear.
