I would always recommend a professional, because otherwise I would be doing myself out of a job, but also they will achieve the best results in the most sympathetic manner - caveat to say this is the case if you use a specialist, experienced company. Be warned there are a lot of cowboys out there. A pro detailer will also recommend and apply a good quality wax or sealant on completion to protect the finish.

That said, its your car so why not have a go yourself. You would need a machine such as a DAS 6 Pro and a selection of compounds, polishes and sealsnts to do the job properly but bear in mind that purchasing the kit will probably cost a large proportion of the price charged by a Pro to do it...
